Question about Akai LCT2721AD 27 in. LCD Television
I have an AKAI LCT2721AD LCD Flat Panel just over a year old. A few weeks ago, my roommate tried to turn the TV off using the side button, and felt a shock from the TV. Since then, any time the TV is plugged in, it will constantly turn on and off. It will actually run the entire startup sequence, including showing the current channel and checking the built-in DVD player, but then immediately turns off once it boots up, and back on again, etc. It is possible to change channels, sounds, etc. just before the it turns back off again. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
Well, I have the exact problem. There's a 'free' solution that's worked so far... my understanding of the circuitry is limited, but all I did was I stuck the ends of a black rubber twistie tie (the kind that usually ties down bread bags, or you might be using to tire your wiring, etc.) into one of the side buttons. The idea is to keep one of the side buttons depressed. If you hold down one of the buttons, you should be able to use the remote to turn on, change source, input channel, etc.

My Philips LCD TV had the same problem. If your Voltage system is 110 AC till 127 AC and no transformator, then it is probably caused by one of the 4 main transistors, which are likely not originalfrom AKAI, but made in Malaysia or closeby there.
My TV works perfectly after 1. Replacing the burned or semi-burend transistors (in the back panel) 2. After repair (=US 60 plug the TV in a outlet from transformator set to 100 V.Good Luck!
