15 to 30 years archival
5000 cartridge loads/unloads
Approximately 260 full file passes. (One file pass is equal to writing enough data to fill an entire tape.)

What is the life time of 400 / 800 GB Data Cartridge for LTO Ultrium 3 Tape ?

The life expectancy for LT03 tape media is 30 years if kept in the proper storage environment (cool and dry). BTW StorageTek warranties LTO media for as long as you own the media and store it within the specified parameters.

Ideal conditions are 60 degrees F and 20% relative humidity. Note a 10% change in either temperature or humidity will shorten the lifespan by 50%

We are trying to backup data files in tape drive 5 of 9 dirves but after backup by about 2 GB , there was a error , ''media full''. Product : ESL712E Product ID : HP Ultrium 2-SCSI

Tape drives are an antiquated backup solution. For less than $100 you can buy a 1 Terabyte USB 2 hard drive with space to back up even the most data-intensive systems.

Hi,

if you "have not" using Backup Software (e.g. Symantec Backup Exec, CA), you can try this IBM LTO-4 driver for Win2K.

Tape drive does not recognize or eject tape

Yeah the Ultrium 4 tape drives only r/w to ULT3 and ULT4 tapes.

We put a Ultrium 2 tape in our 4 drive and it seems to be locked permanently.
