Red convergence still won't move L or R

I switched the new ICs and now the same problem exists, the red will not move left to right, only up and down.

I am desperate for help at this point...

842 looks smoky. I think that is the problem.

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

842 was the culprit. I switched it out and it is working now. The only current problem I have is that everytime I turn the tV back on after its off, the convergence is all screwy. After a minute of manual convergence it looks good again.

Any idea why it would be doing that?

    thanks

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

press muting once? or press and hold

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

Hmm, I tried it both ways on the convergence screen and the main screen and it keeps messing up.. upon restart

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

    No I did not.
Do i Need to unplug and push that button?

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

ok. I will keep the TV on, push that button, set the convergence manually, hold down "muting" and it should save?

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

I don't see a button. I guess I'll have to pull the board out to see it

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

no button that I recognized? idk

  • thehumanlynx Apr 17, 2008

I hit reset on the convergence menu. That seemed to do it.

    Fixya! thanks for the help

After setting the convergence you have to press the muting key on the remote to save the settings that stores the settings in the TVs processor

  • Sonny Berry

Just hold it for a second that should store the settings

No just remove the speaker grille the button is right next to the ICs just push it once then set your convergence and when finished try pressing the muting button, that should store the settings.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. My Toshiba remote control se-r0077 sometimes works to control the DVD player and other times it doesn't. I've tried new batteries and the problem still persist s

One of the best ways to check if an infra-red remote controller is working properly is to look at it using a camera. (a webcam or phone camera will work) The camera will see the infra red radiation as visible light. If the LED lights up (on camera) consistently when buttons are pressed, then it may not be the remote at fault, but rather the receiver in the DVD player. Most of the time though, it IS the remote control at fault, and these are usually easy to get working again.

Couple of things to check are:

1) the battery terminals...
Batteries can leak and corrode the terminals in the battery compartments. Signs of this include rust, green coloured contacts, or a crystalline deposit. If you see any of this then clean the contacts using metal cleaner or some methylated spirit and cue-tips.

2) Broken wires connecting battery terminals to the circuit board...
The soldering in some remotes can be rather poor, and wires can sometimes come loose, especially if a remote has been dropped or bashed about a bit. Unscrew the remote and check everything is connected properly

3) Dirt under the buttons...
This can prevent a button from making contact with the circuit board properly. Unscrew the controller and separate the rubber button pads from the circuit board check for dirt both underneath the pads AND on the metal contacts on the circuit board. Clean as required with methylated spirit and cue-tips and then reassemble.

Hope that helps!

The color on my TV is all pink. I have tried a hard reset but it didn't help.

Your TV has lost a GREEN color from a basic color palette (Red-Green-Blue). It is often caused by:
- damaged LCD cable (which connects the display with a signal board inside the TV),
- damaged video signal cable (ex. SCART, HDMI, VGA),
- damaged video processor (on the signal board).
I can't give you a more accurate answer, because I don't know what is your TV mark and model and, in what situations you have the problem.

I have checked cables and different methods of connecting, but the white and red audio out of my PVR appear to have stopped putting out sound.

Go through the setup of the PVR and check the sound settings. It sounds like it's only producing digital audio, that's why it works with HDMI but you want analog, so set the audio to stereo, or try every setting to see what works!

I have a Phillips tv. How in the heck do I hook up my coleco vision flashback to it. This is back

Maybe go to RadioShack and bring the cables you need to hook up. Probably an adapter that will hook it to the A/V jacks, the red/yellow/white jacks similar used on video cameras and VHS players.

How could I connect a Daewoo 42sm TV?, I can't afford cable so I use a converter box(analog to digital w/rabbit antenna)on my other TV and I was given this Daewoo TV and would like to watch it;please

If your converter box only has RF outpit connectors "F" type screw on it looks like this my be more of a monitor then tv.I took a quick look at the manual and didn't see any RF inputs so it appears it doesn't have tuners built in Looks like you'll need a box that has RCA output connectors.or others that will match what the monitor has on it for input types

Red exclamation point on verizon set top box

How to reset your Set Top Box to fix common problems FiOS TV Residential...
Resetting your Router and Set-Top Box can resolve a variety of issues such as:
  • Missing Interactive Media Guide (IMG) or On Demand menu
  • Unresponsive Set-Top Box
  • DVR recording problems
If you are having any of these issues, you may need to reset your Router and Set-Top Box. Will resetting my Set-Top Box erase the selections I have programmed into my remote?
No, all settings and selections you've entered such as device codes, favorite channels, and recent On Demand selections are saved and available after resetting your Set-Top Box.

Resetting your Router and Set-Top Box
Always reset your Router first and then check to see if that resolves the issue. Resetting your router may be all that is needed.
Important note about your router To avoid problems with your FiOS TV service, make sure your router is plugged in and turned on at all times. Even if you are not currently using the Internet, your router still needs be turned on so that FiOS TV can function properly.
To manually reset your router:
  1. Unplug the power cord to your Router for 15 seconds and then plug it back into the electrical outlet.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and then check to see if this resolves the trouble. If you still have the problem, follow the steps below to reset your Set-Top Box.
To manually reset your Set-Top Box:
  1. Unplug the power cord to your Set-Top Box from the electrical outlet for 15 seconds and then plug it back in.

Note: Don't confuse the power cord that provides electricity to your Set-Top Box with the coaxial cable that is connected to the back of your Set-Top Box. Unplugging the coaxial cable will not reset your Set-Top Box. Since many issues can occur if your coaxial cable is not securely fastened, now would be a good time to check to ensure all connections are securely connected.
  2. Wait for the time to appear on the front of the Set-Top Box, then power it on.
  3. Wait several minutes while the Interactive Media Guide updates.
  4. Check to see if this resolves the trouble. If you still have the problem, your Set-Top Box may need to be re-initialized. Contact the Fiber Solutions Customer Support for further assistance.
I have to reset my Set-Top Box frequently, is this normal?
No, if you routinely have to reset your Set-Top Box more than three times a week, it is likely there is an issue with your Set-Top Box that needs to be resolved. Contact the Fiber Solutions Customer Support for further assistance.

also you can call for tech support at Dial 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966)
