The ratio is 50:1. 2.6 ounces of 2-cycle engine oil to 1 gallon of gasoline. Convenient, pre-measured bottles of premium 2-cycle engine oil are available via our on-line shopping on link below.

Where is the engine number on mantis tiller an old one

In the Mantis 2-cycle tiller:
SV number is located between the gas tank & the carburetor, behind the gas line, on a black and silver tab on the silver engine housing. It will consist of the letters "SV," a number and another letter.

How much gas to mix the oil in?

First check that your Mantis needs an oil/gas mixture, most of the newer Mantis tillers have four-stroke motors meaning they have oil in the crankcase and use straight gas. If your Mantis needs oil mixed in the gas use a 50:1 ratio. That's usually 2.6 ounces of two-cycle oil (it's sold in bottles that size) to one gallon of gas but read the oil bottle to get the proper mix ratio.

What are the carb. jet settings for the Mantis tiller?

When the engine and carb were new, the factory settings were 1 1/4 turns out. As fuel deposits form and things wear, it is normal to need occasional adjustment. If the adjustments need to go more than 2 1/2 turns out, or if the adjustments seem to need constant change, then the carb needs to be overhauled. Here in the USA, many areas use gas that is 10% alcohol. The alcohol effects the soft parts in the carb and will often cause hardening of the diaphragm. If/when you overhaul the carb, also replace the fuel lines and tank grommet.
Good Luck!

Mantis tiller won't run

No it will be fine. You would be surprised how many 2 cycle tillers Ive worked on where people put strait gas in them. they dont run long enough with strait fuel in them to do any damage. I hope this was helpful.

Mantis 2 cycle - tines lose power.

I had this problem today. Loosen the flange bolt. Pull the engine off and check that the hex end of the shaft is lining up with the clutch pad in the engine-that it seats properly. Then make sure the shaft is seated all the way into the worm gear and put the engine back on. You will probably have to wiggle the shaft until it seats into the clutch. Tighten the flange bolt when the engine is seated flush with the worm housing (with no gap). That's all I did and the power is back up. Hopefully you still have your manual with the parts blow-up. (page 29?) BTW, have you checked that the wormgear is greased?
