It's actually a pretty easy fix, but it may take a few tries before you get it right. Start by taking out Sim card and battery, after a few seconds, but the battery back in. Then hold down the 2 softkeys (with the dash's on them) together and press down on the power button for about 2 seconds. Let the power button go but not the softkeys. You should get a black screen that will instruct you to hit the Green "Go" button to restore factory settings. Once you do this the phone will reset itself. It will restart very slowly, so be patient.

I had to visit quite a few stores and finally purchased a used battery from a licensed dealer. With the new battery I was able to restart the phone and the new battery also held a charge. This phone is prone to overheating and gets what the phone tech called, "thermal shutdown." Too hot, it turns off or freezes up. I ran into other problems with this phone so I finally got a different one.
try to plug in thew charger. if it indicates that it is charging then you most likely have a broken power switch. that is a common problem with this phone. if youcan get a local cellphone repair tech to service it, contact www.fixphonenow.com they can repair it.
my dash doesn't have instant messgaing.... what can i do to get the instant messgaing on my phone... plus the keyboard is not functioning well like it suppose to.. it works as key pad like d regular phone..but i can't use the whole keyboard...what can i do...???
The Windows Mobile installation may be corrupted.
The only way to fix that problem is by re-installing the windows software on the phone.
You can get the software for the T-mobile dash at the following link: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
Be warned that if you use this method most of the data on the phone will be lost, like text messages and etc. Your contacts should be fine as the are stored on the SIM Card and if you have been syncing your contacts with your PC then they should get loaded when you do the up
This happen to me more than once, the latest today (may 25 08)at 9pm. Tmobile will tell you how sorry they are and that's about it. I am on my second dash and second battery.
Try to hold both top keys (between call green and hung up red) while you are pressing on the shut off switch for 2 seconds. Whe it comes back to life, everything will have erased but supposedly, the phone will be like new.
I am collecting names and emails of people who are fed up with the Dash and Tmobile. Write to me firstname.lastname@example.org
Suggest that if you got the phone through T-Mobile, return it and get a different brand altogether.
I have been having the same problem with my phone which I have had for about 14 months and since it is out of warranty, there is nothing that can be done. Suggestions from getting a new battery to getting a new charger have been made. I have replaced battery and charger and still no fix. To use, I have to be plugged in at all times. I am faced with having to buy a new phone.
Mine does the samething. I'm running 6.1 and have found the problem to be the system fails to read the sd card on boot. When I reset my memory I don't put the sd card in until the system has booted back to the start screen. Works fine everytime.
It may be the storage card - if you take the storage card out it will boot up and you can put it back in. - pain in the a## but it may work.
Or Try taking the SIM card out, boot it up, turn it off, replace the card, and turn it on again
Last resort is a hard reboot to set it back to factory default. reboot system by holding down the two - - keys above the house and arrow while the phone is off. Then you continue to hold while you push the power button on the side for 2 seconds. Should go to white screen then black screen. once at black screen hit the green call button and follow the rest of the prompts.
