Question about Dell Inspiron 2200 Notebook

Monitor off and on

I have a monitor connected to my laptop. The monitor will be on and then all of a sudden turn off. It will continue to turn on and off for a various amount of time. Could it be that the laptop has a different resolution than the monitor?

Vaio LCD problem

Periods.......Nice little items because they denote the End of a sentence.
See how this works?

"I have a vgn cs36gj, I was working with it, suddenly the LCD became pale black, I connected it to external monitor and it has a picture, sometimes after turning on for 30 minutes LCD start working normally, but after turning off and disconnecting power when I turn it on, it only shows a pale black picture, you know it is on but only black!"

Now you try it.........

"I have a vgn cs36gj. I was working with it, suddenly the LCD became pale black.
I connected it to external monitor and it has a picture."

Okay, I got that part.........

"sometimes after turning on for 30 minutes LCD start working normally, but after turning off and disconnecting power when I turn it on, it only shows a pale black picture, you know it is on but only black!"

WHICH LCD?
Laptop LCD?
External monitor LCD?
Man on the moon LCD?

1) If the external monitor LCD goes 'pale black', the problem is the graphics chipset.
This I do not believe

2) If the laptop LCD goes pale black, this I believe.

Samsung RV520 monitor suddenly blacked out

If you turn the monitor on with no video cable attached you should get a message on the monitor "Going to Sleep" or "No Signal" if you don't get anything like this the monitor is probably bad. If you can see a message and it is very faint it is an inverter or back light, usually the first in the monitor that is bad.

My monitor has suddenly turned red.

Is the monitor still under warranty?

Connect the monitor to a different computer (desktop/laptop) to see if the "redness" follows the monitor.

Connect a different monitor to your computer, to see if the video-card (or the "data" cable) is causing the "redness".

A qualified technician would cost $50 to $75 to trouble-shoot.
A replacement monitor would cost $100 to $150, and would come with a warranty.

My monitor screen is ok for awhile but suddenly turns a dull yellow color. I just bought it a few months ago.

Hi,
you must adjust the display settings in the software program that was being used to change the display setting.
  • If you have a flat panel LCD monitor, unplug the monitor power cable, wait about 30 seconds, reconnect the cable and then turn on the monitor. This resets the electronics on the monitor.
  • Make sure the monitor has power - the light on the monitor is on. If the light on the monitor is off, the monitor does not have power. Connect it to a different power outlet.
  • If the monitor has a detachable video cable, obtain a second monitor cable for testing purposes in case the cable is bad.
  • follw the another steps-
  • Replace the monitor power cable.
    1. Turn on the monitor. If the monitor displays an image, you are done. If the monitor remains blank, continue using these steps.
    2. Replace the video cable. Turn on the monitor. If the monitor displays an image, you are done. If the monitor remains blank, continue using these steps.
    3. If the monitor does not work after replacing the cables, replace or service the monitor
  • Thanks,

Connection to external monitor stopped working

Did you go to the display properties screen and check the settings of the second monitor connection. You must turn it on, and have it set to a low enough resolution for the monitor to work. If it shows the second monitor, Click Identify and it will put a number on the laptop screen. Which ever number doesn't show up is the external monitor. Select it and set the resolution down by grabbing the scroll bar and drag it to the left. Start at 800x600 or so and apply changes. If the monitor doesn't come on, check to see if the monitor is on.

Nothing but plaid on my laptop

This may be a screen problem. In order to narrow it down, plug in an external monitor. If the monitor works correctly, then it's a problem with your screen. Somethings that you can try are: With the external monitor, go in and unistall the monitor drivers, disconnect the external, and restart the laptop. Check the connections no the screen. If it's not the driver or connections, then it will be the screen and will need replacing.

LG L194WT Monitor suddenly stop working

it is probably indicative of a switched mode powersupply trying to start then seeing a short and then trying to start again...this will cycle continuously until fault is rectified..any component that can drain the powersupply is the culprit...you need some way of detaching the powersupply from the load (monitor) to see if the power supply its self is the cause and also check if there is a loop back (a pulse) for continuous running.

    Screen won't start

    Hi tomasbaldry

    My 1st (Routine) Question is:
    (01) Do you have *ANY* other information *at all* regarding this issue?

    For example:
    (A) Research that might have already been done on this issue
    (B) Things that might have been tried to determine or to correct the issue
    (C) *Any* other issues w/ your computer - particularly any issues that corresponded w/ the onset of this issue.
    (D) Something someone else might have told you, suggested or recommended regarding this issue (including contact w/ the manufacturer).

I guarantee you, you cannot give us too much information. The more we know about this issue, the faster and more accurately we can get it diagnosed for you. :)

    NEXT:
We'll need to determine if the problem is w/ your computer's LCD panel (monitor).

The most direct way to do that is to connect an external monitor to the laptop (there is most likely a monitor connection on the back or a side of the laptop.).

    (02) Connect a *known working* monitor to the laptop's external monitor connection.

    (03) Turn the monitor power on.

IF you can do the following w/ the laptop monitor in the closed position, please, do so.

    (04) Turn the laptop power on. (Make sure the A/C adapter is connected. (We don't want to confuse the issue w/ a low or dead battery.)

    (05) Quickly but gently, (right after pressing the power on button) place the laptop's monitor in the closed position.

    (06) If the laptop's LCD panel has failed, we would expect you to be able to see your laptop's display now on the external monitor.

If that is the case then the monitor either needs to be repaired or replaced.

That is the 1st phase of the trouble-shooting process for this type of issue.

    (07) Please, post back here w/ the results of your test and answers to Questions (01/A-D). Please, include questions, observations, etc as well.

    *********************************************
** Please, don't rate the experts' solutions
** yet. Instead, wait until this issue has
** been resolved or diagnosed and you don't
** have any further questions for us. Once
** you enter ratings for the experts' feed-
** back ("solutions"), the problem will be
** closed automatically. We won't be able to
    ** continue to assist you.
    **
** As long as the problem remains open, we
** WILL continue to work w/ you on it until
** it is resolved or diagnosed.

    Thank you,
    BJ @:)

    Black screen not booting

check both your power and video connections to the monitor, sounds more like a monitor power issue.
if the connections appear ok, but screen still blank, try connecting a known good working monitor from somewhere else and see if it works with your pc, if it does, your original monitor is faulty, if it doesn't, you have a pc video issue.
