Hi, I received a Tom Tom GPS X One for my Anniverary present from my son in Washington State. I was wondering if the Tom Tom could be wired direct so that I would not have the wire showing from the Cigarette lighter
area. I like my Winshield mount on the left upper side of my windshield. I have a 2007 KIA Sorento. If this is possible please let me know at what location close to my home I can have it installed. I live in Palm Harbor, FL.

Any shop that specializes in installing car audio equipment should be able to hard wire the unit to the car's electrical system. Be sure you choose a reputable shop. But be aware - hard wiring may make it possible to see that you have a GPS unit (visible wiring, etc.) and they are very popular items to steal. If a thief were to see any sign you own one, they may break into the vehicle looking for the unit, even if you have taken the unit itself with you. Good luck.

You need to change the State. When you go to put in the address does it show the state as Kansas. If so press change state and change it to Washington.
Most TomTom GPS have a small reset button underneath. you will need a paper clip to activate the reset button. This should start it up and clear the locked out state you described
Use the cd supplied with your TOM TOM to update the maps online, you may have to pay a fee but it should fix the problem as long as TOM TOM have updated their maps themselves.
download the map for your state and or region gaemin is the only gps that requies you to do this. tom tom is a better product and dosent require downloads
