Trying to find pump.

Hi - I understand you will like to know where to find pump and check for clogs. Try the following steps below and hope it is helpful:

To completely clear any clogs in the washing machine drain you will use a pipe auger (snake). Start at the roof plumbing vent and drop cable to roughly 10 or 15 feet past the actual drain. If there is a clog present, the snake will bring up a chunk of debris. Remove it from the top of the vent and discard.

The drain hose is visible toward the bottom of this washing machine. It is held in place by a clamp or a couple of screws.

Remove the drain hose from the back of the washing machine. This is normally held in place by a clamp or a couple of screws. When a drain backup occurs, pieces of debris can lodge in the hose, causing clogs and odors.

Soak the hose in a bucket of warm bleach water.

Soak the drain hose in a bucket of warm water mixed with 1 cup of bleach. Look to see if the line is free of obstructions. Run a small length of clothes hanger through the hose to clear any hard debris.

Reattach drain hose and connect to drain pipe.

Reattach the drain hose using a screwdriver or pliers. Insert the hose into the washing machine drain. Be sure it is all the way into the drain opening.

Run the washer through a full cycle with 2 cups of bleach added.

Cycle the washer with warm water and 2 cups of bleach. The bleach will help remove any odor-causing particles in the machine and drain hose. Running the washing machine through a cycle will help flush away any remnants of the drain pipe clog.

DOESNT DRAIN ON EVERY LOAD. DRAIN IS CLEAR

If you don't have a sewer vent pipe for your washer you will have a drain problem. I had the same problem, some loads drained fine and others were still soaking wet. The air from the vent allows draining. Since my plumber added the vent pipe, my water drains very fast and no more soaking loads.

I had a cockroach scare and closed off the opening where the drain pipe of my washing machine drains into another pipe. Would this cause the washing machine to flood water out the bottom of the washing...

Unfortunately a lot of us have the straight pipe for a drain that you describe. With no trap it is a source of entry for bugs from the sewer and vent pipe. I have the drain from my washer in the pipe with the rest of the opening covered over with duct tape, As long as you don't block or kink the drain pipe you should have no problem closing the area around the drain pipe. I've been running mine that way for over 20 years now! Thanks for using fixya!

My washer drain pipe overflows when draining. i've tried smaller loads, cleaning drain pipe & vent, and raising the drain pipe. seems like the washer is draining the water too fast.

no you have a drain problem .... i would recommend calling a plumber the only thing it could be is drain problem there is no such thing as draining to fast.

My drain pipe for my washer doesn't drain the water fast enough.

No, but you can try snaking the drain or use something stonger like muratic or sulfuric acid. You may also want to check the venting on this drain.

to reset the water level you have to turn the knob all the way over as far as it will go and then come back to large load.

Washer fills up than starts draining while in wash cycle

Hello , here is the fix-your drain hose is placed to low in the drain line in the wall, it can not be placed in water or it will siphon the water out of your washer into the drain pipe and it wont stop until it hits air. try pulling your drain hose up and out of the drain and get a zip tie or cable and tie it to one of the water valves by the drain pipe placing the end of the drain hose about 5-6 inches inside the drain pipe. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck it will work.

Non-stop draining at whatever cycle selection

Is your drain pump constantly running? If it isn't, check the standpipe (drain pipe) and make sure you don't have your drain hose shoved down in the pipe too far or the top sealed off. The stand pipe needs an air gap to properly drain, or it can siphon water from the wash tub. Symptom: Washer continually tries to fill or slow fills, but water won't stay in wash tub. Double check your drain line to be sure. It could be a simple fix.
