Question about Epson Stylus Photo R1800 InkJet Printer
Loading Paper in the Sheet Feeder
1. Open the paper support and pull up the support extensions.
2. Push in the bottom of the output tray. The tray opens and
3. Pull out the output tray extension.
4. Place your paper in the printer and slide it against the right
side of the sheet feeder.
Check the following as you load paper:
* Always load the short edge first, even for printing
* Load the printable side face up. It’s usually whiter or
brighter than the other side.
5. Adjust the left edge guide to fit lightly against the paper.

Try loading papers from the back, sheet feeder and front feed. One at a time and after loading papers press the paper button to manually feed paper. Check user guide what types of paper are compatible for different feed slots.

Clean the rollers down where the paper sets in the printer. Do not use cheap generic matte coated paper. Some generic matte coated paper will leave a film on your rollers and cause them to not grip the paper.

I have been stuggling with this tonight too, except with Epson Glossy 13x19. I kept getting the "Media Out" error when i tried to print it using the sheet feeder. It turns out that by puting a few blank sheets under the one I was using it lifted the paper enough so that it sensed it being there.
Hope this helps someone else!

SOURCE: EPSON R1800 END OF SERVICE LIFE
You have a few choices on this one.
1. The SSC utility mentioned by Jacklee366 is usually the first port of call but it may not work in some situations. Worth trying regardless
2. Epson have an official reset utility which is available to North American printer owners who have a valid serial number (back of your printer).
You just fill out this form and you will then get access to the utility (the one eagleflh/bos_dsl is reselling with his kits)
3. You can also get access to the official service utility that service engineers use on these printers... A copy is available here.
IMPORTANT: This utility is a lot more powerful than the other two and requires a bit more hoop jumping but it can resolve the maintenance request very efficiently. Whatever you do, read the readme files and take your time if you opt to use it.
Hope that helps.

Do you mean that the paper light flashes at the same time as the ink light or do they flash alternately (ie: paper on, ink off -> paper off, ink on)?
If so the waste ink pads are full and you need to do the following:
1. Reset the waste ink counter:
Grab the tool linked from the wasteink.co.uk site (see bottom).
2. Redirect your waste ink into an external tank OR replace your waste ink pads.. (external tank is easier).
Instructions for the R1800 are available from this site
If the lights are doing something different, please post again with detailed information about how they flash and I can what else it might mean.
Hope that helps.
