Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I keep the ask.com page from coming up as my homepage?

First see if you can remove this program from the control panel.
If not run Malwarebytes.
If using firefox or Chrome (i don't know what version you have) but newer version can reset the initial layout.
If IE. On the control panel search for a program internet Options on the Advance tab click on "reset".
I usually check all the tabs and remove what i don't want.

Rectangle translucent image with foreign writing with 1024x768-60Hz pop's up in middle of screen followed by white box with red, green and blue on bottom of box with OSD foreign writing on it.how d

Never heard of that before, but it sure sounds by the helpful details given for this problem that you sure arent/weren't at a secure site. If you have windows XP, 7 or a microsoft system go into internet explorer, Tools at the top of the menu, then Internet options at the very bottom of that dropdown menu. Immediately delete all of you internet history and "cookies" on the sys, you can also go to Start,Programs,Accessories,System tools, "Disk Cleanup". Reboot after all the cleaning and do a virus check asap... lets hope you've got a VP program

I can,t connect to internet thru my orange shortcut only thru mozilla firefox

At least that proves all is good with the actual connection to the ISP. Have you got two icons on the desktop? Is your 'orange shortcut' the mozilla shortcut or is it for another browser..? Like IE? If the orange shortcut is for another browser or whatever.. highlight it with a left mouse click & right mouse select it & go to 'properties'. It should show (under shortcut) something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
This points to the actual executable that really runs the program. You could go down the directory structure & attempt to start the program directly from that executable. If it "points" to the wrong executable, then you need to modify the shortcut. You need to compare the two internet browser shortcuts & try to discover whats wrong. Both shortcuts should point to their respective exe files, to start the actual program.

I realise this is probably sounding complicated, so if you are not sure, then post any other questions here.. But as above, you do have access to the internet, so this is not a serious problem to solve. Let me know how you get on.. Rgds,
