Gateway Intel 850 Motherboard will not boot

Working on Intel 850 motherboard socket 478, received from a friend, would boot with three beeps, when I tried the other memory bank for ram no more beep, but will not show any picture. Have tried to reset cmos and bois, swap out memory with good stuff, tried swaping video with no luck, and finally still nothing, I have even swap out motherboards and cpus. With no luck. Can anyone help. Even tried calling gateway, with no luck there either,

Please download a memory (RAM) testing program for free. Click the link. http://www.memtest.org/
This program will allow you to make either a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CD. Before you can use the above program I will need the correct model No# for the Gateway, found on a sticker somewhere in the PC case along with the serial number.
The information regarding you're board is incorrect. You can find the boards model number written in white lettering somewhere on the board or on the side of a PCI slot.
The link for the Intel 850 is listed here.
http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/850/
Gatway's link here.
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp

I'll check back from time to time & check if you have found the correct information.

Good Luck
Mike

I need the manual for the Abit TH7 raid motherboard to match the 1.4G intel Pentium 4 processor

The old Abit TH7 RAID mobo, ay?

The Socket 478 motherboard uses an Intel 82850 Northbridge chip, and Intel 82801BA Southbridge chip, for the motherboard chipset.
(ICH2 is 82801BA)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

(Intel's term for their Northbridge chip is MCH. Memory Controller Hub,

The Northbridge chip handles the faster capabilities of the computer.
The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities.

The Northbridge chip handles the Processor, Ram Memory, and High-speed graphics.
AGP and PCI-Express are high-speed graphics.

{The Abit TH7 RAID mobo has an Accelerated Graphics Port expansion slot, for a graphics card. AGP)

A graphics (Video) card inserted into a PCI expansion slot, or Integrated Graphics,

As you can see in the chart on Wikipedia the FSB support for the Intel 850 chipset (Intel 82850) is 400MHz.

In conclusion, you know now that you can use an Intel Pentium 4 processor,
A) That fits in a Socket 478 processor socket,

B) Has a maximum Front Side Bus frequency rate ('Speed') of 400MegaHertz. (FSB 400MHz)

I have just installed a 478 socket MSI MS-6526 ver 3 motherboard to my computer and all it dose is bleeps when i turn it on any help would be apricated

check for the error beep if you hear continues beep it means issue with the memory. check the RAM if it is properly inserted to the slots and if it is compatible to the motherboard. if you hear 2 or 3 beeps it means issue with the video. your video card maybe not compatible or not properly inserted to the slot. your motherboard has a built in VGA/Video card try using that first. try connecting the main components memory/RAM, power supply, KB and mouse, VGA card(optional you have a built-in) then check if there is a display or if it booted. then one by one add your other components you want to add. just to trace the problem.

Remove the BIOS recovery jumper near the battery on the motherboard and attempt to boot. If the system displays a startup screen, replace the jumper on pins 1 and 2 (pin 1 will have an arrow by it) and configure your bios appropriately.

I have a Boot Problem with my INTEL P4 3.0Ghz. 800Mhz FSB,1M L2 Cache, Socket 478 CPU

I have experienced something similar with my new Core2Duo processor and a fairly new Socket 775 processor. Troubleshooting it led me to believe the CPU simply wasn't compatible with the motherboard. Although it's a shot in the dark, I suggest that you try out some of the following: - Did you try pulling out the graphics card to see if you got it to POST then? The graphics card or the monitor may need replacing. - Did you remove the RAM? - Are you sure all cables are attached properly? - Try to take out the CPU, talk to a friend with a socket 478 motherboard and replace his CPU with your CPU. Does it work now? If yes, motherboard needs to be replaced.
