I just purchased windows vista home premium and have a lexmark X6100 all-in-one printer. It says it's compatible with windows XP. I can't run it but was able to install it. I tried to uninstall it and I keep getting the message that my printer is currently in progress and to try to uninstall after it finishes printing. It's not printing! How can I make my printer compatible with my vista or is it possible at all? Help, please!

Go to the lexmark website and download the software for free. Once you download the software and drivers, reboot your pc and it should work fine.

You may want to see if the Printer is actually compatible with Windows Vista first before you try anything else.

If your Printer is Listed Below, then unfortunately it will not run on your system unless you format the machine and downgrade to Windows XP. (Or obviously you can wait until the device is supported, but to be honest that could be months, years).

the x5650 is compatible with XP, Vista and Vista 64

You need to make sure the driver is suitable with your O/S, especially vista.

The only drivers available for this printer are for XP or lower.. Try connecting the device to the computer, and using Vista to search for a compatable driver.. I believe it should find one that is compatable with this printer..

Uninstall the s\w and and download the s\w from lexmark.com ....

Check if ur vista is 32 bit or 64 bit processor....(Right clikc on coputer ikon on ur desktop....go to properties..there ull find if ur vista is 32 or 64 bit processor)

choose the software accordingly
And also check if ur printer is x6170 or X6150...
NOTE: While installing....Unplug the USB cable...plug it back in whe the software prompts u to

Go to www.lexmark.com and click on Drivers & Downloads then Driver Finder. I did not see the X6100, but I saw the X6150 and X6170, hopefully that's what you have. You need to download the correct driver depending on what operating system you have. In other words, do you have Windows XP or Vista?
