Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
SOURCE: I own a Canon Pixma
for the receiving problem:
since the fax & tam shares one line, whoever answers first, gets the line regardless if it's a fax or voice.
but since you mentioned it is now not working when you switched to VOIP. fax was developed & designed with analog phone lines in mind. VOIP is digital and totally different from analog even though service providers "marketing strategy" says it's 100% compatible.
comcast for example offers a fax service, because they know that normal fax equipments will not 100% work on VOIP. There are some manufacturers that make FOIP (Fax Over IP) products.

SOURCE: Pixma MP530 Fax Problems
I am having a similar problem. You do have to connect your phone to the jack in the machine in the "Phone" jack slot, as well as have another line out to the jack in the wall in the "L" slot. That is all I know. I am having problems with my voicemail. Either I can received voicemail, and no faxes, or faxes, and no voicemail (fax picks up at specified number of rings). It is EXTREMELY frustrating. The machine is *supposed* to be able to discern between phone calls and faxes..and that is not happening.
Have you come across a solution? Aghhhhh!
