that sounds like a bad connection. follow the positive and negative cables around and insure good connections. lack of lights and dash panel info is a sign of bad connection or hate to say bad battery. if you had lights and dash lit up i would start at the starter area next.

Harley davidson evo motor wont turn over...just clicks

Pull the spark plugs out and hit the starter. This will make sure that the engine is not locked up. If the starter does not turn the engine, put the bike in first gear and have someone push you, making sure the engine is free. If the engine is OK, your starter is probably jammed and needs replaced. That wire getting hot is a dead giveaway something is locked up tight...starter or engine. If ya have a large hi-performance engine in the bike, chances are your stock starter won't do the job.

New battery on new bike,it kills the batterys in 2 days

Either you have a dead short in your wireing or your battery is not charging fully. Use a volt meter your battery will have 12 volts start the bike and it should read 13 plus then take it up to 2000 rpm above idle anyway it should read 14 plus. If you dont have these numbers then you have a stator or regulator problem or both. You may be geting a slight charge when running but not enough to keep the battery peaked out.

Problem with charging system on 1993 softail every time i ride it have to charge battery for the next time have had new battery lights on dash but wont kick over is there spose to be any other wires to the...

Here is a few tests you can run. First with the bike off take a multimeter in VDC check the battery voltage at the battery. (should be at 12.5 VDC) If not first charge the battery. Second start the bike, with it running and multimeter again in VDC check voltage at the battery while slowly opening the throttle(should see between 13.2 and 14.5 VDC at the battery) If you have more then 15 VDC then you have a bad voltage regulator. If you have less then battery voltage from the first test. You may have a bad stator and/or a bad voltage regulator. Third test with bike turned off and multimeter in continuity. Place one meter lead into either of the two holes for your stator lead(coming out of the front of the primary drive case) the other meter lead to any good ground. If you get a tone or continuity then you have a grounded stator, and it has to be replaced before proceding any further with charging system tests. If you do NOT have continuity then check the wires from the voltage regulator running back to the battery for any breaks or chaffing, if none are found. I would have the battery load tested as well.Good Luck and thanks for usinf Fixya.com Let me know what you find please.

Battery draining down setting in the garage.

You've got something that's pulling from the battery. It could be as simple as a loose connection or bare wire touching the frame, it could also be a bad relay, but this would generally show when testing for an open circuit. Check any added electrical devices. Also, keep in mind that the system on a Harley doesn't charge the battery, it only keeps it topped at where it's at. So, if you have a half charge on the battery, you can ride to Hawaii and back, and you'll still only have a half charged battery. This is where a battery tender comes in helpful for garage time. I'm afraid you're just going to have to start tracing wires. I ride a 95 Softail, did a harness trace last winter while waiting for new paint, and was amazed at the amount of wear the wires had. Ended up running about 30 feet of new wire to replace weak, worn, and exposed.

Sounds like something is hanging or froze up or the starter/solenoid contacts need to be cleaned or the battery cable connections at the frame ground and starter are either loose or corroded and need to be cleaned or maybe a wiring harness plug has corroded over the winter and needs to be cleaned.

poor connection or ground cables can look good and be bad just like me! also the sarter could be the problem if the relay isnt carrying enough amps when the starter engages
