Trying to download apps but it won't register the fact that my calculator is connected

Use the TI USB Silver cable or a standard USB to Mini USB. The calculator shipped with one or both cables.
Before it can be recognized you must install the drivers. Download TI connect and install it on the computer before connecting the calculator. If you use the Graph link (black cable) you need to have a serial port on the computer.
COM3 is serial communication port. On newer computers (laptops) that port is no longer available.

How to download the Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator

1.Get linking software for your computer, such as TiLP, or TI Graph-Link, and follow the installation instructions to install it.

2.Plug your cable into the computer (where depends on what cable you have)(somtimes your computer does not have the right kind of entrance) and the other end into the calculator.

3.Start the linking program that you just installed. If it detects the calculator, everything is working fine, and proceed.

4.Download calculator software from the internet. You can find many programs athttp://www.ticalc.org

5.Make sure downloaded program is unzipped and located in a normal windows folder

6.Select the program you downloaded in your linking program (how you do this varies between programs) and send it to the calculator. For Windows this can involve finding the unzipped program in windows explorer and right clicking it (from a normal--nonzipped--folder window) and selecting "send to TI device"

7.Use the program on your calculator.

TIPS: If you have a USB cable, you will need either TiLP or TI Connect, no other software supports it

Things you'll need:

-A Texas Instruments graphing calculator

-A link cable for the calculator

-An internet connection

I accidentally press reset all and now all my apps are gone. I was wondering how I can restore it back to normal with all the default apps just like when I bought it. Please explain in step by step fashion...

Go to education.ti.com . Download all the applications you want from this page and install them on your calculator.
For that you will need a mini to Standard USB cable or a TI USB Silver cable.
The drivers for the cable have to be installed manually if the computer does not recognize the device.

  1. From the TI website (computer software) download TI connect and install it on the computer.
  2. Run TI Connect, and verify that it finds your calculator:
  3. In TI connect main window, click Screen Capture or Device Information, or Device Explorer.
  4. Once the calculator is correctly identified, drag an application downloaded from TI and drop it on the TI Connect main window.
  5. It will install on the calculator.
  6. After transferring two or three apps, stop to allow the calculator to defragment the memory space.
  7. Resume transferring applications.

I need to download something to my TI-84 plus calculator, but i dont have the disc it came with. What do I need to do?

No need for the disc. Go to the education.ti.com website. Click Download menu, select Software and apps, Select Graphing calculators, TI83PLUS/TI84PLUS family and find the TI-Connect 1.6 connectivity software.
Install it on the computer then connect the calculator to computer with the TI SilverLink cable . Open TIConnect, Drag and Drop applications on the TI Connect main window to transfer to calculator.

If you use the USB mini to standard (Direct cable) you may have to install the drivers.
In Windows, when the Found New Hardware window asks you to look for the driver do not let it do it automatically. , select option "Let me show you where it is (not the actual wording)" and make sure you select TI Educational Handheld.

No need to. If you are using a Windows computer, look in Start>>AllPrograms>> Accessories>>Calculator.
Configure it as scientific and it will do pretty much what you want.
If you need help, click the Help menu.
If you want do download a TI83Plus calculator to install on your computer and use at your leisure, post a comment here and I will give you the link.

Urgenttttt --- when i used notefolio on my computer to transfer notes to my calculator TI-89... i could not find transferred notes on my calculator!! where can find it?? or do i have to download...

You need to install notefolio to your TI-89.

You can download the program from:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_notefolio_89.html

After you download the program file, you can use TI-Connect to transfer the program file to your calculator (after you connect the calculator to the computer with the USB cable). To transfer the files, simply drag and drop the program file onto the TI-Connect icon on your computer.

To learn more about the Notefolio app, here is the guidebook:

How do i find a online calculator like a texas instrument I NEED ONE

Hi,
You can downlod the TIEmu from this site Install it on your computer and you can run it any time you want. It can emulate the TI 89 Titanium, the TI92Plus, as well as the TI Voyage 200PLT. You need to download also the GTK 2.6 library which you have to install on your computer.
It needs TI OS's , which you can download from the TI Website as you would for a real calculator. To emulate any of the 3 calculators, download the revelvant OS.
When you run the Emulator for the fist time, point it to the location of the TI OS for the machine and it will import the files to make images.

After you learn how to use it, you will be able to switch between calculators. I do not like the emulator for the TI89 Titanium because I have a 14 inch laptop screen, but the Ti92 run at twice the size is just perfect.

If you are not familiar with the calculators above, you can download the Virtual TI (version 2.5). It emulates the TI83Plus. It is available at ticalc.org

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

-Choose to reset [RAM] ( 1: all ram; 2: defaults) or [ALL] (1: all memory. Whatever choice you make needs to be confirmed in a subsequent screen.

To reinstall the applications you need a TI silver cable, and the TI Connect software. Install the software before connecting the calculator to the computer.

Hope it helps.
