this might sound crazy but have you got a aftermarket sony stereo fitted because my dads stereo makes this anoying beeping sound everytime he turns the ignition off, if so its nothing to worry about :)
If not solved yet, make sure the fan is spinning on the heat sink on the processor. If it is, then if you have a video card installed, make sure that fan is spinning. These are 2 pieces of hardware that will cause the beeping and shut down.
There are several reasons why a computer will lock up. You can view the HP help file HERE for your computer. You can also view the beep codes for your computer (yes, those noises mean something :D ) HERE. The instructions are step by step for your machine and should be fairly easy to follow.
is it the water going through the wet end or is the motor making the funny sound? If the motor is sounding funny then you may have a bad motor. if the wet end is sounding really noisy then the motor may not be matching the size of the wet end as far as the HP. make sense? if your motor is bigger than the rating on the wet end it is pushing way too much water it is will be very noisy.
Not sure how it could do it when the electricty is shut off unless it has a battery inside, and I couldn't imagine why it would.
If the power cord is plugged in then the unit has power whether it's turned off or not.
Then it could beep - that I could understand.
I would contact HP support on this one!
