Where do I get a replacement LCD for the HP 12c calculator, circa 1983?

Want to replace this myself, but having trouble finding a parts source.

Thanks.

Have you looked on Ebay, check with office products dealers, most have what is called junkers just for this reason...

Great! Sometimes batteries get out of alignment and little jostling or a good smack cures the problem.

There is no contrast adjustment possible with the 12c. Most of the time, faint displays are due to weak batteries or poor contact with the battery or batteries.

The HP 12C doesn't have a complex mode.

If you're seeing a "C" on the display, it means the calculator is set to use compound interest for the odd period. To switch to using simple interest, press STO followed by EEX.

Hello,

Here is what the manual for the HP 12C Platimum financial calculator says on page 17 of 275

**Digit Separators**

*As a number is keyed in, each group of three digits to the left of the decimal point is automatically separated in the display. When the calculator is first turned on after coming from the factory — or after Continuous Memory is reset — the decimal point in displayed numbers is a dot, and the separator between each group of three digits is a comma. If you wish, you can set the calculator to display a comma for the decimal point and a dot for the three-digit separator. To do so,*

turn the calculator off, then press and hold down the**[ . ]** key while you press **[ON]** Doing so again sets the calculator to use the original digit separators in the display.

Hope it helps.

I couldn't find any reference to a HP calculator model 12p.

There is a HP 12c financial calculator and a 12c Platinum financial calculator.

Check both models (for images, specifications, functions, user guides, etc.) :

It doesn't look good for being able to purchase the display as a part. I checked HP and the unit is not listed. I saw a 49G but no repair parts listed. you can research with HP at:

It is not calculating because your decimal point and the digit separator (that's the comma which automatically displays for every group of 3 digits) got messed up. To clear, turn the calculator OFF, then press and hold down the dot (that is the decimal point symbol) key while you press the ON key..
