If everything was working fine, and then all the activity "disappeared," your area probably upgraded and migrated to a trunked radio system. If that's the case, your BC120XLT can no longer follow the activity, and you'll need to upgrade your scanner to stay in touch with the action.

Radio's that have a "safe mode" go into that mode when power has been removed. The vehicles battery may have been disconnected during service for a period of time for this to happen. This is a theft prevention feature that the radio has so if someone rips it out of your car it wont work again without the code. If you have an aftermarket radio, try to find the manual for the radio maybe the code is in there and instructions on how to unlock it from safe mode. But if it is the Audi stock radio try to find the Audi owners manual.
