I would be willing to bet you have a 8v regulator circuit failure in hideaway Box. I have seen many of these units where a resistor opens and causes 12v instead of 8v to appear at tuner and a few other IC's. Usually But not always destroys tuner.

If it is the 8v Reg circuit that is defective (which is my guess) . Hideaway (brain) would need to be repaired by an Authorized Kenwood service center or entire Hideaway would need to be replaced. I would recommend taking it or sending in for service.

Check the basics first like making sure antenna is plugged in properly, Make sure antenna is not defective etc.

If sending to Michigan is Cost effective I wiork for a Authorized Kenwood service center there . We charge $50 to evaluate and give est.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

it sounds like you are using an amplifier. if so you are probably using the blue wire (antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) to turn the amplifier on. the power antenna remote wire turns off when leaving tuner mode.

I have a kenwood KVT-715 and it will not ejector ply cd's or DVD's I tried the reset button did not work.

sometimes you need to disconnect power to the radio completely for a few minutes for the microprocessor to completely reset itself. if that doesn't work, you have a problem with the cd mech itself.

I have seen problems in the hideaway (brain) where 8v reg circuit fails causing higher voltage(12v to 14v) to be on that 8v line. First component to fail is the Tuner followed by electronic volume ic. I have probably seen 6-8 failures where tuner fails. Fix is to replace tuner and replace open chip resistor in Hideaway box to restore 8v regulator to proper voltage. kstahl65@att.net
