Question about Canon imageRUNNER 5570 Copier
I have some users in the mailbox option that need to be deleted. There are passwords to the mailbox that are unknown so that makes this difficult! If you know how to do it...please please please help! I called customer service and they were no help to me!
Ok, you may want to consider all other input and options but I feel quite confident that there is only one option. The fact that "passwords" are involved is the true obstacle. In the past, the term password did not mean as much as it does today in regards to security. In fact, some manufactures require replacing circuit boards, with deep technical support from the vendor to maintain serial numbers and copy counts to make sure no one tries to commit "lets call it odometer fraud". I know it sounds crazy but these are the times. What I can offer will dump every shred of customer customization from the machine. As if it were new. The meter remains the same. However, ALL other customization will be lost. IP address, one touch, favorites, fax numbers........etc.....GONE. If you are cool with that then here we go. Press the 'additional functions" key, then hold down the the numbers 2 and 8 simaltaneously then back to additional functions. This is a fluid 3 step process.1,2,3. This will summon the service mode. A place where you can REALLY %%^@ things up if you feel like it. But we will follow a straight path to where we need to be, ok? Once you have executed the afore mentioned steps the screen will change and give you a menu of items that varies depending on the accessories your machine has. At the top will be " COPIER". Press copier. Now you will see a new menu with an array of tabs across the top of the screen. Press "Function". New menu appears. You will see a box that says "CLEAR". Press it. Another new menu will appear. We are looking for "MMI" which typically appears on the second page which you can access by pressing the right arrow at the bottom of the screen. Depending on the machine configuration "MMI" might appear on the first page, but rarely. Once you have found MMI, press it and it will highlight, then press ok at the lower right hand portion of the screen. You may retain the better part of your "fax" info if you have the fax option but I just wanted you to know you "could lose" any pre programmed stuff. Canon says you won't. Ok at this point you have cleaed the customer memory and you will need to press the reset button as many times as you need to to return to the main screen. Then, we need to shut the copier down in the proper sequence as per usual...WHICH IS.........press the on/off button on the operator control panel and keep it pressed until the screen guides you thru the shut down sequence. Again this will vary depending on a number of things but the copier will guide you. And if it questions you whether you want to "FORCE OFF" just say yes. At the conclusion of this dance , you be asked to turn the main power off. The switch is located on the right side of the copier, toward the rear , slightly lower than halfway down. Power off and wait a few seconds and then power back on. The dance is complete.
