Question about Cameras

Olympus x-840 digital camera. Hi, there is a problem with the battery life; fully charged batteries seem to be exhausted after only a dozen or so pictures. The battery indicator plunging from a full set of greens to a single red and then the camera refusing to turn on. Then after taking the batteries out and re-inserting them everything seems fine again for the next few shots - and then the same cycle of events plays out again...

Same problem with my SP-320 as 'Hi there' except that it's getting stupid now and I need only take two pictures before I get 'Change batteries'. However, if I swap the batteries around, I get a few more pics before it stops playing altogether.

The best solution is to buy NiMh batteries 2300 mA or greater 2500 mA to 2700 mA and so I have no more problems with this excellent Olympus x 840 camera. In Belgium i have payed a little more than 50 euro for the batteries and the charger.

Camera retracts it's lens and turns itself off about 10 seconds after I turn it on

Have you fully charged the battery? if it is a new camera or battery,it needs at least 12 hrs of charge,to maintain good charge, if only a short time of charge was given from new the life of the battery will be greatly re-juiced,try a new battery with a full charge, if this fails your camera is probably faulty, take it back to get a replacement.

How do I charge my Olympus camera? I've gone over the instructions a dozen times, and I just can't get it to work. Please help....

You must use the F-2AC battery charger along with the provided USB cable to charge the battery in the camera. Make sure the cable is inserted fully into the charger and the camera, it can take some force.
To charge the battery outside the camera use the LI-41C battery charger.

My camera won't turn on even though it's fully charged

Hi there,

Is there no sign of any light from the camera when you turn it on? When was the last time you used that camera? If you have left the battery inside the camera for quite some time, then most probably, it got exhausted. Despite of being charged for hours, can you put back to the charger again and see if it gives a red battery charging indicator? If it gives a red light, then you may need to replace the battery pack.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

My C-3000 indicates that the batteries are dead even if I put new batteries in the camera.

It is possible that there is a fault, or that the battery connections in the camera are dirty or corroded, but digital cameras are famously demanding on batteries. You must use good alkaline batteries or better, a set of high capacity NiMH recharegables. Zinc or "long life" batteries just aren't up to the task.

New rechargeable batteries are supplied only partially charged. You need to charge them fully before use.

My Olympus Stylus 850SW won't turn on. Thought it was a drained battery, got new battery, then thought it was my charger. Bought new charger. Battery is fully charged, camera still will not turn on.

Link

Good day,

Link above leads you to the Stylus 850SW manual-see page 62. Please make sure that you are using Olympus Lithium Ion Battery only, as this is the only battery the camera is accepting. Using exhausted battery will make the camera to turn off.

If the problem still persist, kindly contact Olympus Help desk for more details.

Regards.

I am in Pune 411004 in India and have purchased Samsung digital es 15 camera recently. Original 2 aa Alkaline batteries have been completely used up.when I replaced these with 2 new eveready batteries...

Solution: As digital cameras become more advanced and include more features, the power needed to keep them functioning has also increased. That means that typical alkaline batteries likely won’t do more than power your camera for a few shots before running out of juice. Sometimes, your digital camera may not power on at all if the inserted alkaline batteries aren’t fully charged or powerful enough. Rather than carry along dozens of alkaline batteries for a single photo shoot, you can save money by purchasing rechargeable NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) batteries. Rechargeable batteries can be purchased with a charger that you plug into a wall outlet, and they fully charge in one to five hours depending on the charger and the type of batteries you’re using.

If you’re already using rechargeable batteries but are experiencing short battery life with your digital camera, it’s likely time to replace your rechargeable batteries with new ones. Depending on the number of charging cycles you perform (how many times you discharge and recharge your batteries), rechargeable batteries typically last for two to three years before they no longer hold a full charge. You may also ensure that you’re charging your rechargeable batteries directly before use. As batteries sit unused for extended periods of time, they automatically lose some of their charge.

There are many ways you can conserve battery life while using your digital camera, too. For starters, if your camera has a viewfinder in addition to an LCD, use the viewfinder to frame your shots and turn the LCD off because LCDs draw a lot of power. If you prefer to use the LCD, you can still conserve battery life if you refrain from looking at each picture on the screen after you take it.

Olympus C-765 - won't take photos anymore. Memory card is fine and camera has worked perfectly for the past two years. Does anybody have a solution? The camera seems to function as normal, but when I press...

Reset the menus to default or factory settings.
Then test the camera again.
Make sure that the battery is fully charged or new.
You might consider to buy a new battery (Ebay is a good place) for this camera. Then test.
Problems like this can show up when the battery is weak or not fully charged.
You may try to remove the battery for 24 hours and then after try it again.

Battery life expectancy

The battery life of AA alkaline batteries varies according to the manufacturer and power rating. Alkaline batteries can provide up to 100 shots with typical usage. Olympus NiMH batteries (B-01 4PE) provide approximately 250 shots per charge and can be recharged 300 to 500 times. Olympus recommends the use of CR-3V batteries or NiMH batteries. Olympus sells an NiMH Battery set which includes a charger and set of 4-NiMH batteries. You can purchase this through Olympus dealers or through the Olympus Emporium (www.olympusamerica.com/store).
