Horiz deflectiion bad

if the transistor gets very hot in under 30 seconds the problem is in the driver circuit in front of it--open or off value cap is most common. 5 minutes is waiting too long---touch the face of transistor--can be mildly warm but not HOT.

I have two Sony KV-27FS120, they have the same problem, 4 blink, both have no vertical & horizontal drive from IC001 jungle chip, and Q505 horiz output blow. Circuits between them look good. I replace...

Check very carefully for cold solders on horiz. drive transformer also replace the electrolytic cap that shapes the horiz. drive signal - if you have a scope and manual compare the drive signal shape.
Some times using poor after market horiz o/p's also causes the problem - does the o/p heatsink get to hot to touch or does the horiz o/p blow immeadiatly?

Picture goes into horizontal lines while watching then you shut it off for 10 min. or so and it resets it self

solder connections in horiz.drive/output circuit.also solder the flyback transformer.if only 10 minutes you need to solder in the
horiz.circuit area.get a magnify glass and usually will see hair line cracks around the
components.

Cost of horozontal circuit

In this set, the complete horiz circuit is not replaceable, unless you were to replace the complete mother board.

The flyback and various failed parts may be replaced as required. There are troubleshooting procedures to determine the defective parts. This is performed by following tests and diagnostics using the service manual as a reference, and using the various test instruments to follow up for readings. This takes proper training, instrumentation, and experience to perform.

The average cost can be in the area of $160 to $250 US to service the horiz output stage, depending on the types of failures.

Horizontal output transistor failure

check b+ comming from p/s. also check for blue flat caps in line with h-output circuit. if blown out the side. remove them from circuit. also might have a HVT goin bad. I believe this is also the model that might have a mod for h-out running too hott that requires adding a resister in the h-drive circuit. also try a heavier duty h-output.
