Question about Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera
Replaced batteries and battery icon still flashing. Had batteries tested and they are good. Cannot take photos or advance film. Camera will not function at all. Any suggestions without having to send it off. Short of buying a new camera, I need it repaired asap. Have a wedding to shoot in a month. Please Help!!!

Canon also uses the low battery Icon as a generic error code. Try taking the lens off the camera. If this fixes the problem the lens needs a repair (most likely the aperture unit). If not then the camera needs the repair (either the shutter or dc-dc converter circuit).

I am not sure if this will address your problem but it is worth trying.
Make sure the record/playback mode switch is not in an intermediate position. Push it firmly all the way up. Also ensure that the mode button is not between clickstops. Then try to operate the camera
If that does not help, try the following. Take all the batteries out, including the lithium battery which keeps the clock going. Also take the SD memory card out. Leave the camera sit overnight.
Obtain new batteries - conventional alkaline AAs and a lithium type CR1220.
Next day, clean all the contacts for the AA batteries with a cotton-bud and contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Let dry. Then insert the new lithium battery. Next insert the new AAs and try to turn the camera on.
If it works, insert the SD card. If it does not work then there is probably an internal problem and it should be serviced.

Had the same thing happen to me, took the batter and memory card out then tried to turn it on (With no batter nothing was going to happen) left it in the on position for an hour replaced the batter and turned it on. Which worked for me (problem has never come back).
