I have the same problem. The low battery light was flashing and I purchased new batteries. The new batteries didn't do anything. I bought new batteries again and yet nothing happened. Had a friend with THE same camera and took their batteries out of their WORKING camera and yet again, the low battery light continued to flash on mine.

I'm still looking for answers. Any help would be nice.

Canon also uses the low battery Icon as a generic error code. Try taking the lens off the camera. If this fixes the problem the lens needs a repair (most likely the aperture unit). If not then the camera needs the repair (either the shutter or dc-dc converter circuit).

SOURCE: batttery icon shows low battery even though new batteries are ins

I am not sure if this will address your problem but it is worth trying.

Make sure the record/playback mode switch is not in an intermediate position. Push it firmly all the way up. Also ensure that the mode button is not between clickstops. Then try to operate the camera

If that does not help, try the following. Take all the batteries out, including the lithium battery which keeps the clock going. Also take the SD memory card out. Leave the camera sit overnight.

Obtain new batteries - conventional alkaline AAs and a lithium type CR1220.

Next day, clean all the contacts for the AA batteries with a cotton-bud and contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Let dry. Then insert the new lithium battery. Next insert the new AAs and try to turn the camera on.

If it works, insert the SD card. If it does not work then there is probably an internal problem and it should be serviced.

Caroline, you should try to set the camera on "M" and the flash in 2nd curtain flash sync.

Or set flash in ATG wireless IR ETTL Slave modes and pop-up the flash on Canon EOS-70D.

Low battery showing replacing batteries does not solve problem

The flashing low battery symbol is the way Canon film cameras showed that the camera has had an error and has stopped functioning. It can have multiple causes - but for a quick check remove the lens, turn off the camera and then turn it back on - see if the symbol stops flashing. A problem with the lens can also cause this problem (usually a failure of the aperture unit)

When was the last time you changed the internal "watch" battery in the camera? that might need changed.

And a new lithium battery might be a good idea too. my camera stopped turning on this summer until I replaced both batteries.

Hope this helps!

When you disconnected the camera, did you use the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen or did you just yank out the cord?

My Canon EOS 1000D wont take photos, viewfinder flashes busy

Maybe you drop your battery and they have electronic components inside that could be spoiled, if is that the case, try to change the battery, it appeares to me that the ammount of current the battery is sending to the component is very low even thoe it seems to be fully charged that's why the camera is unable to display anything and the "busy" warning is blinking all the time, I hope you find this usefull.

Canon EOS Rebel GII Battery Icon

Hey dafgatti,
According to the manufacturer if replacing the batteries with new ones doesn't resolve the issue then there is something wrong with the camera internally. You should have it looked at by an authorized service technician. You could bring it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they should be able to send it out to an authorized service center, or you could contact the manufacturer and they should be able to assist you. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Low battery warning

What type of batteries did you buy?

For digital cameras, you want to use batteries with high milliamp hour (mah) rating: "2500 mah" if they are rechargeable.

If you bought regular batteries, you want to use good quality. Look for the "e2" or "better for digital equipment" type.

Does the camera have a DC power plug option? Try taking pictures with it plugged in if it does. If it still malfunctions with power right from the wall, then you bought a bad camera.

Camera battery is dead and was just bought a week ago

If the contacts have been cleaned in the battery chamber, check the lower contact post - it's spring loaded and often gets stuck and doesn't make good contact with the battery. A little WD40 usually will free it up. Your batteries are probably still good.
