if you tried to adjust the temperature and the cooler continues to freeze the food then replace the thermostat attached to the control knob. Thermostats fail in different ways

Not sure what model you have so I need to guess that it only has a thermostat control that regulates temperature? Can you post the Model Number? If your model only uses the temperature control to regulate temperatures then I suspect that the temperature control is at fault and needs replaced. Spare parts HERE Can you locate your model number? your damper door is freezing fully open between the freezer and refrige compartment defrost it,then adjust the cold control to make sure its controlling the door position,itsound as if your door seals may be letting in warm air that condenses and freezes on things check this too

Hello, This problem is going to be the cold control/thermostat, this part can be located in the control console inside the fridge bhind the freezer temp control knob (can also be found sometimes in the freezer depending on type/model) The reason your food in the fridge is freezing is because the thermostat controling the freezer temp is not shutting down and the air being blown into the fridge is too cold. the off - max dial is the thermostat. Turn it closer to off for a warmer setting

there is a way to adjust it but its very difficult..best to just replace it. the thermostat that is.

This refrigerator only has one thermostat located in the fresh food compartment it is designed to activate the sealed system (cooling) until it reaches approximately 37 deg f in the fresh food compartment. The damper controls how fast the cold air can move from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment. Allowing you to control the temp in the freezer by controlling the flow of cold air to the thermostat.

You have one of two problems.
#1 your thermostat is no longer opening when it achieves set temp. fix = replace thermostat pn 61005798 $35
#2 your damper arm or assemblie has broken. Fix = Replace damper or broken arm and actuator.

Chances are your control dial is bad, your thermostat has gone bad or your compressor has freezen over. As bad as it may seem to trouble shoot this, unplug your frig., to "defrost" then plug back in. If this does not solve the problem, you may need to replace the thermostat or control dial.

usually there is an adjustment at the back for the difference between the fridge and freezer compartment. Often is just a vane that blocks freezer air, too much air would freeze the food. Normally you set the fridge thermostat for a normal food temp, then adjust the air to keep the food warmer than the freezer.
