Emachine T2984 won't power up

My emachine will not power up. I tested the switch and it functions. There is a green light lit on the motherboard. I changed the power supply and got the same result. Any suggestions? Is there a fuse on the motherboard somewhere?

I have the same issue. The motherboard led lights up when I plug in the power cord to the PSU but the PC doesn't boot up when I press the power switch. I had a tester for the PSU and it shows as being good. I pulled the front cover off and inspected the wiring to the power switch and all looks well. I've also got a Soyo Diagnostic Card and plugged it in but the only light that is illuminated is the standby power indicator. When testing the PSU the fan on the PSU comes on but once I plug the 20 pin connector back to the motherboard the fan is dead on the PSU as well as the cooling fan on the CPU with only the led on the motherboard being illuminated. I assume that the MB is bad but could anyone confirm and if so is an Intel board this old still available to purchase?

Emachine T3624 will not power up

Emachines are notorious for having faulty power supplies. If your lucky you just need to replace the power supply. I've seen a lot of them where the power supply also fried the motherboard.

Please don't forget to rate this solution.

I have an emachine T2984 that won't boot. No noise of any kind. I had another emachine T2625 that was working. I took the power supply out of the T2984 (that wouldn't boot) and put it in the T2625 and it...

Power supply sounds fine. If the pc won't power up it could be your motherboard. If the pc is powering up and you get a 'no signal' on your monitor it could be your gpu.

Upgrade to a new motherboard?

I think there may be another issue.. It could be the power supply.. Have you tried a new one?

Have you installed any additional ram lately?

You can use the old XP software with a new motherboard, but it can be a pain in the **** to set-up if it is the OEM version of Windows, or a Recovery Disk that came with your machine..

What you could do, if you bought another motherboard, find someone with a Genuine Windows XP disk, and use your Product Key to install it..

EMachine no power

Ok for a start the power switch is not green and white that is the power led, you need to look for a red and black wire normally marked on the connector and motherboard as pwrsw or pswitch.
if you believe it to be the switch unplug the connector and jump the connection on the motherboard using the reset switch or a jumper, or not recommended but have done this myself many times using a flat blade screw driver very carefully and touch the 2 pins to complete the circuit.
if it doesnt power on then its more than likely it is the power supply but the motherboard being faulty could also cause this to happen.
the problem i have found with emachines is that its difficult to get replacement power supplys
