Phaser 7300 problems

Hi read your post on the 7300 sensor flags, I have 3 issues with my 7300 I want to solve, Here is what I posted.

***********

http://www.fixya.com/support/t286253-toner_sensor_board#

tryit's suggestions are very helpful, I would like to understand how the sensors actually work, I used the method described below to at least keep it going until I arrive at a solution. I have been quoted $600 for the top cover and sensors and $300 to install. Is this a wide spread problem or does it just show up on older high page count 7300s?
Thanks

My spit and bailing wire fix
"This may or may not help but I was able to greatly reduce the number of times the error occurs by taping a small piece of very soft foam rubber above the sensor flag with double sided tape. This will do for now until I can learn more about the repair.
got to mention there is a tech note on this I heard and it talks about a "bounce" of the flag sensor and a time out causing the problem."

The questions I want to work on are
#1 the sensor flag problem

#2 I want to disable the %#$@*! ability to print menus from the front panel. I have this issue with students coming up to the printer, having some problem or being impatient and not choosing the right page setup/paper tray/paper then hitting buttons.
The blasted thing defaults to having the Menu highlighted, if they hit OK it goes to Printable Pages Menu. Then they hit OK and it asks to put paper in the manual feed tray, I find it this way all the time, sometimes I can get it to cancel, sometimes not.

Thanks Iqbal, I saw the service bulletin from Xerox, it described the problem and said the fix was to replace the whole top assembly. I will be the first to agree though there may be a cheaper way. I have also heard to try remove the flag and sand the pivot shaft and smooth to provide free movement. I may order the flags and polish the shaft, Thanks for the diagram link

    Thanks Iqbal,
I ordered the sensor flag kit from Xerox, $31, Any ideas on the second question? I think for now I am going to print a BIGGER sign on the printer and a stack of 8.5*11 paper in the MFTray. I don't see a button to rate, hit accept?

Hmm i think it will be better to re-place the sensor as it cost only upto 20$.

Anyways you should have a look on this link. Here is a detail diagram with full specification.
I think it will help you.

Thanks

    vudutu,

I don't think there may be any option to disable menu. You can block it making disable the connection from button on PVC (just putting a solo tape), but I don't like this type of solution because in this case to enable the button you have to make connection again.

Anyway if you will hit Accept button against my solution then my solution will get fixya rating.

Thanks vudutu for your nice feed-back.

I think you might have a Spring missing for the Waste Toner Full Sensor. Truthfully, it is really hard to describe in a few sentences.

It belongs in the frame wall under near where you have the white waste toner section of the Transfer Belt. This spring pushes a flag up that hits the Paper Entrance Sensor (yes, near the bypass tray)

The PN for the spring is 116-2050-00

I think you might have a Spring missing for the Waste Toner Full Sensor. The machine tolerates the sensor status for 2K pages and then shuts it down.

Xerox Phaser 7300 color misregistration

Apparently, turning the unit off for 30 seconds, then back on will force the Phaser 7300 to do a color alignment procedure (according to Xerox support).

Then, if the problem persists, you are instructed to follow a very detailed troubleshooting procedure which I will leave with you in the following link:

Xerox Phaser 7300 Misregistration Issues

I hope this helps!

Hi i have phaser 8560, it gives me a error 09,038,46:62248, plese who can solve me the problem.

Hi there
The onlty thing I can find close to this is.
Acording to the manual its a ink loader error like your loading the wrong type of ink like the puzzles pieces arent matching and hitting the sensor flags right. Yours by the 8 is referring to the black ink. Anyway go to troubleshooting on the control panel. then to service tools. when in service tools press and hold the up arrow while still pressing the up arrow press the down arrow. the display should say hidden menus. go to diagnostic mode press enter go to funtion menu. then go to clear ISC fault and enter. ISC=ink stick count fault. I hope that helps. Just to let you know Ive had nothing but problems with third party ink and once its in the system its hard to get out so I would watch what im doing with my expensive equipment

The "Reseat Toner Cartridge" message keeps appearing, if I open and close the lid the message goes away and it seems to print normally.

There is a firmware issue that causes that problem.
You can download it from the Xerox.com site and upgrade your machine. The instructions on doing that upgrade are also on the site.
Go to Xerox.com. Then click Suport and Drivers, then enter 7300, then to drivers and downloads and scroll down to the firmware update.

Error message: cyan imaging unit is either missing or unseated

The problem is with the top cover assembly. It could be a few things. I would first try the toner sensor flags(the magnet may not be strong enough to read properly). Also replace the toner cartidge because it's magnet may also have gotten weak. Third, I would try the Toner sensor board.

I have had this problem with many printers and normally it is just the flags because of the weak magnets.
