Power supply maybe ? Take of the cover and check to see if any of the capacitors are "bubbled". Turn it on with the cover off and see if all fans are "turning" ..

    Too many what ifs

The above posted some possibilities.
most likely candidates are either failing power supply (a cheap replacement...30 bux or so) or overheating
is there lots of dust on the cpu fan? which fan is not spinning, one on the cpu or motherboard?
of if the above done work then its a bad board and you gotta buy a new one ;\
thoes are really the only whatiffs here.

My hp computer will not turn on l have a A7v8-la motherboard on it and the green light is on in the back of the computer

Check all of your cable connections like mouse, keyboard, modem, etc. are all properly connected and solid. While the computer is on try hitting Control, Alt., and Delete at the same time and see if the computer will reboot. If that doesn't work try holding the on/off button down until the computer shuts off on it's own. Then wait a few seconds and turn it on and wait. If that doesn't work then its beyond me and call your local computer store. Many salesmen can offer suggestions without talking to the repair dept.

Someone suggested to me to increase the voltage. Higher voltage means more power. In your residence the only items with higher voltage are the stove and the water heater. Try powering your computer there.

I have a hp Pav 305 and it has a bad power supply can I replace with 400 w instesd of 250

You can replace your old power supply for one which has more wattage than the one that you have got. A power supply with more wattage means you can run more devices than you are currently running now.

Computer well not boot

The computer may have done a routine software update that automatically reboots the PC when complete. HP is known for this. If it fires up when you turn it on, no worries. If its DOA then thats another issue. Best regards.
