    Check the model number at the back of the TV. With that info we might have a better idea how much the actual cost is.

I checked for the prices of a second hand Symphonic 24" TV, the prices range between $125.00 to $175.00.
Hope this helps.

During a storm, my tv was plugged into an outlet and it was working fine and in a minute, it turned off by itself. Now the tv does not work. There is no sound, no picture. The only thing thats still on is...

It got hit by lightning I believe. I hope you have insurance. It will most likely be in the power supply board. My recommendation is if you have cost replacement insurance is to get a new one. Once a tv get hits by lightning it is hard telling what other damage may be lurking.

It could just ba a fuse but it could have damaged the power supply or even worse it all depends on hard it was hit. You really need a TV service man for this.

If you have home insurance you can claim repairs under "Fusion" But the work has to be carried out by a licensed repairer who provides an account that clearly states that your unit suffered fusion. contact your insurance for a claim form and dont mention lightning

Parts and some labour are covered depending on the policy. Cheaper than doing a X Y board replacement yourself

Power will not come on, some kind of timer seems to be in place,

Claim fusion on your insurance policy but dont mention lightning as its an act of God and not claimable in many instances

Tv turns on and then off

Good Day, ruschracing;

Storm? The first thing you should do is unplug the TV from the wall for 3 to 6 minutes (reset), then plug back into wall.

If that does not help, then you should call an authorized service center to give you an estimate for the repairs. OR call your home owners insurance company.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

By manual convergence, if you mean electrostatic convergence, then I'm not sure this is included in the service manual. However, if you join the http://groups.yahoo.com/sonyhdtv/ group, there is a file download called ws500tweaks.doc that documents this (with the usual caveats, like don't get yourself killed, when in doubt hire a pro, etc).
