Question about Samsung YP-U3 MP3 Player
I had the same problem with a YP-U3 and was able to fix it by installing upgrades from the Samsung website. First I downloaded an firmware upgrade from ver. 1.11 to ver. 1.13. The upgrade consists of two winzip files that need to be copied to the system folder on the YP-U3. After the two files were copied, the firmware upgraded itself when the MP3 player was turned on, but I still got a "system fail" message. Then I downloaded the latest version of Samsung Media Studio 5.2 from Samsung.com. The Media Studio menu has a function for reformatting the MP3 player, which clears all data files but leaves the operating system intact. After that was done, the MP3 player worked properly.

Even more simple: in my case (the symptoms were exactly the same, with firmware 1.13EU) I've simply uploaded another .ogg file, using amarok under linux (MTP protocol), disconnected the device and waited for the MTP DB updating phase to end. After that, all started to work just fine. I guess that this can work with windows software as well: just try to upload another mp3, ogg or other file and you should be done.
