Pictures deleted! My olympus camera had approx. 500 pictures....of which 108 of the most recent were disney vacation pictures! When I got home, they were still there in my camera (i viewed them)....then I charged the battery, and when I turned the camera on to view them before printing them....the camera said "NO PHOTOS". I am devastated! How could this happen? Is there any way to get them back?

If the photos were on a memory card then yes you have a good chance of recovery.
http://datadoctor.biz/
Go to this site and download the demo programs. You will be able to see if they can recover your photos. The progs are not free but memories are priceless - I know!
Even if they are on the camera memory they offer progs to recover photos from the camera.

Good luck

PS do not take any more photos until you have tried the recovery software!

I am currently on vacation and I was taking pictures with my Olympus FE-230 and when I now turn it on it tells me that I need to format my card but in doing this it will delete all my pictures. I cannot...

I know how it can be frustrating not to loose your files..............my recommendation may be a bit hard but it is tried and tested.

  1. Have your camera format it that is if you believe that the card is not faulty.
  2. Use the card any how you want!
  3. Get a recovery software which will recover all files that was deleted no matter what you did to the card and use it to recover all your old pictures . (i can provide this software for free if you so wish)

good luck and let me know the outcome

Delete all pictures from my Olympus C5500 photo chips. I have a 256 and a 512 mb cards which I have already printed. I want to clear the cards for new pics. Both are full. We leave on vacation in 2 weeks.

these cards you mention for digital cameras are very very small!
Best thing you can do is purchase a card that is let's say at least 8gb.
this will allow you to take as many pictures as you like on your vacation.
The cards generally sell quite inexpensively at MicroCenter or Fry's, check both if you have them locally.
Most of these cards are SD HD, make sure your camera accepts these. Best thing is to take your camera along and test it right then and there.
If it is the camera presenting the problem, this company is very reliable:http://www.teleplancamerarepair.com/manufacturer/olympus.asp

Transfer Photos from favorites to PC?

Hi I am sorry to say sounds like you have deleted them , the menu favourites is not a separate memory it is just a prefix for the camera to find your favorite pictures .. so if you have erased them I think all you are actually seeing on the camera are the saved thumbprints to favourites with the address on them so the camera knew where they where stored .. But you have deleted them so they wont show in the cards directory as they are no longer there . To doubly check my theory please check your available memory on the card and work out how many photos it can store and what space is available .. and would there be space for your pictures on the card if they where still there for example .. card size 1ghz
each picture in Bmp format uses approx 500kb in jpeg or jif format approx 250 kb so multiply the number of photos you took by 250 or 500 depending on what format they are on the camera . take the available space stated and the maximum space available and deduct it from the greater , then tally the amount left with the amount of space needed for your photos . if it correlates then they may just be there in a hidden file if it doesen't then I am afraid you have lost them .. if it seems they are there in files on your computer activate hidden files view and you just may find them .. but I seriously doubt it .. always save pictures to Computer before deleting them from any directory on the camera as when moving them from directory on camera it sometimes only re categorizes them as the camera has limited space .. Picctures got deleted.

I am very skeptical when buying anything online however I faced the same problem when I lost over 500 pictures of our first family vacation to Disney World. This was a nightmare for about two days until I discovered a software easy to download on the website www.CardRecovery.com. I paid about $40.00 and I am a satisfied customer! Amazing and if this ever happens again the download is reusable. Tryi it I highly recommend. Dawnette Escobedo from San Antonio, Texas
