Question about Hitachi CP-X960 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Brightness Pulsing Hi, I just replaced the bulb, and now we notice that the brightness seems to pulse slightly during operation, sometimes more dramatic than others. I have left it on over a period of about 3 hours to see if it would become more noticeable due to the lamp heating up, but doesn't seem to worsen. I would hate to think it's the bulb, since I just replaced it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have noticed the screen is now not as bright as it use to be, still works just not bright. A darker look is the best way to describe it

Hi,

The most common indications of a weak bulb in a Sony LCD Rear Projection TV are:
  • Dimimage with low brightness and contrast.
  • NoPicture, Dark Screen.
  • Shadowsin Image, sometimes circular.
  • Intermittent Shutdown.
  • Fluctuating or Flashing Brightness.
  • Longerthan Normal starting time.
Also check for distortion caused by Optical Engine Failure. If any of these faults are present, bulb will not fix. Sony Optical Engine Fault Gallery

Olevia 237t-11 i cannot adjust any settings when i go to menu - i.e. if i want to adjust brightness, the bar comes up but using my r and l buttons does not increase or decrease brightness

Hi, you could have a faulty remote control. Have you tried the up and down buttons instead of left and right? or perhaps try a fresh set of batteries.

To check the buttons you want to use are working on the remote you can point it at the lens of a digital camera or mobile phone (Cellphone) camera press the buttons and at the same time look at the phone or camera's screen, you should see a pulsing white light, this is the infra red being emitted from the remote which would suggest its working and the problem may be with the TV, if there is no light being emitted on your phone or camera's screen then it maybe that some foriegn contaminent has got into the remote and the PCB needs cleaning with a slightly damp cloth, of course this would mean taking the remote apart which can be a little difficult but not impossible, then leave the remote to completely dry before re-assembly .

If you do end up having to take the remote apart then try and take a close picture of it just incase the buttons are loose and not mounted to a pad and the end up falling out, that way you'll know where they go back when cleaned.

If all else fails with the remote you could try ---> HERE
Hope this helps

Why do my daytime running lights (head lamps) pulsate when motor is running. 2002 mazda tribute

Are the pulsing during driving or just at stops and idle? The pulse 99% of the time indicates a loose generator belt or bad alternator. YOu can have the alternator checked at a local parts store such as AUtozone, Advance, Napa, or Oreilly's free of charge. Depending on the age of your belt it may be time to change it as well. P.S. you notice your headlights because thats where your eyes are focused.. but turn your instrument light control knob all the way to brightest and willing to bet they are pulsing slightly too..

Head lights flicker slightly, trans in drive, foot on brake engine at idle.Flickering is like pulsing very rapid every few seconds.Subtle but noticeable.

at idle the alternator can just keep up with maximum current demands .. as it regulates on and off you will see a slight change in brightness .. at slightly higher idle speeds that should go away .. if it gets worse then you might check the battery termanal connections (clean) and the alternator brush assembly and belt tension .. when at idle the current thru the brush assembly is maximum and worn burshes may start to arc ... although i would not expect significant brush wear in just a year or so .. so i suspect you are just on the edge of alternator regulation .. everything is on at once so current usage is maximum and alternator output is at its lowest because of the low rpm .. probably not a problem .. just one of those little things that bothers us until we find out what it is ..

I have 1991 vmw 325 the light are blinking

If you mean that all your lights are pulsing from their usual brightness to slightly dimmer then back, then this is usually a sign of bad voltage regulator in your alternator. Most alternators no longer have an external regulators so alternator needs to be replaced. To test this turn on your lights and pay attention to how fast your lights "pulse". Rev the engine and if the pulsing speeds up then its your voltage regulator.

If you meant that a specific light keeps blinking then please specify which and during what conditions, and we can try and get it figured out.
Hope this helped.

Hi rampersad82, We need to check the functionality of the remote. Press and hold the up volume button, watch the light (led) on the remote. If the remote is workingyou will see a slight pulsing of the light. If it is not working the light will stay bright with no pulse. Let me know what you find I can assist further. lone99star

Brightness Varying during operation

Inside all projectors is a lamp ballast that runs the lamp. It could be in the early process of failing.
This website will explain the whole ballast thing clearly. It is important that if your ballast is failing, then you get it replaced or you maybe infor another very expensive light bulb very soon.

Hope that makes your issue somewhat clearer (pardon the punn)
