Non system disc or disc error fix

Hi, do you have a floppy disk, cd or usb stick inserted in your computer? Try removing such items and reboot as it may be trying to read these before the hard drive.
Check the boot order, when you first turn on your computer, access the BIOS menu (may need to push Delete, or one of the function keys eg F2, F8, F12 etc).
Check the boot order to ensure the correct hard drive it listed. Try moving the hard drive to the first option and reboot.
If removing any cd, usb stick etc doesn't help, try removing the hard drive and see if you can access it from another computer. If you can't access it, your operating system nay be corrupt and you may need to reformat.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause this problem
follow the troubleshooting procedure a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working:

hope this helps

Windows close and a blue page with white writing on comes up on screen, before you can read the fisrt line the computer starts in normal mode. it seems to work ok until the next time the same thing...

hi i have the solution to ur problem it's basically when ur windows file gets corrupted u will observe this sort of error message like what u have described a blue screen i recommend to install a fresh version of windows u can do this without losing any of ur critical data just follow these steps:
STEP 1:as soon as ur PC starts and u observe the logo on ur screen for e.x(INTEL,MERCURY) domething of this kind press F 8 immediately and u will see the next thing on ur screen is the PC asking to on ur system or load windows by providing some options select the option containing my msot recent settings that worked and ur windows will load surely without any blue screen error
STEP 2:as soon as ur windows will load try backing up ur critical data in a separate drive other than the drive containing ur windows files and folders and then install a fresh copy of windows or u can also repair ur previous windows using windows boot CD.
was this helpful to u if yes pls do rate my solution and thanks for visiting fixya.
NOTE: if the option u select do not work try other option specifying to load windows with all files and folders this will work sometimes but the above option works 99% perfect and if u face any problem just insert the windows boot CD and try repairing ur previous version of windows.
with warm regards-bonefirediv.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. I recently tried to free up some space by uninstalling some programmes. I accidentally seem to have removed whatever connencts the computer to the dvd/cd drive & cannot...

Such errors may occur, if accedently you uninstalled the required drivers for the device.
Now you can use the System Restore Option to get it working again :
  1. Click on Start Button,
  2. Go to Programs
  3. Point to Accessories
  4. Then go to System Tools
  5. Now you can find the System Restore.
Start System Restore and find any previous date shown in BOLD. choose that date, and you'll get your system restored in the working condition as earlier.

"NTLDR" is missing"

Change your computer's boot sequence. Make sure that your computer's first boot sequence is the CD-ROM Drive.

1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.

2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.

3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.

4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

5.Enter in the following commands

COPY X:i386NTLDR C:
COPY X:i386NTDETECT.COM C:
[where X=CD ROM Drive]
Take out the CD ROM and type exit

How do I Access BIOS screen in a IBM PII-6862-84U?

As the computer boots press the DEL key to access BIOS
note: some systems you must press F2 or Esc
In BIOS under the BOOT tab options change the Boot order so that the CD drive is First
Select EXIT and Save Changes to reboot
note: make sure the CD is in the drive BEFORE you reboot!
(it sounds obvious but a lot of people forget)
If the CD is bootable it will start its own boot sequence.

Replace A Hard Drive On E-Machines ?mperial motherboard glve

First, check the jumpers on the back of the drive to ensure that it's set for master. There will be a legend on the drive label explaining where the jumper needs to be to achieve this. If it has been used as a system drive previously you won't need to worry about this.

Second, physically fit the drive into the tower and connect the IDE ribbon cable. The motherboard end of the cable should connect to the primary IDE slot. To identify which one is primary look closely next to the two slots, they'll be marked IDE 0 and IDE 1. IDE 0 is primary. Connect a molex power connector to the back of the drive from the PSU.

Since this drive has been used previously you should now be able to install your chosen operating system from a CD or DVD. XP and Vista both have options for creating/deleting and formatting existing partitions during setup.

These are simplified instructions and assume that it is an IDE drive and not SATA and that no second hard drive will be installed on the same IDE bus. More detailed instructions can be found here:

Hope this helps,

I bought used d600 and need to format it

hi,
you can do the following.

D drive can be formatted from windows itself. open my computer. right click and click format and follow instructions.

But C cannot be formatted from windows as it contains files that would be in use.To format C insert the windows(OS) CD and restart. change boot option. this can be done by pressing F4 or F8 while the system starts. now cahnge boot device to cd. now follow the instructions to load the OS(windows) and install it in C. Select quick format or format and you are done. All previous data and the OS would be deleted and the drive would be formatted and the new OS would be installed. If You want to keep your previous files, select keep files system intact while the procedure is being run.
