Case # 6984675 - I am unable to get online due to the above message. I have tried rebooting to no avail. There is no problem other than the router. Please advise.

Hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

Only one screen will not go online, says cant find ip address

This might be due to several causes. First of all, reboot your router AND your PC. If that doesn't fix it, a few possible situations remain:
- If you're getting this message on a secured wireless connection, you might have filled in a wrong network key.
- Your network card may be malfunctioning. Try reinstalling your network card drivers and see if that helps.

I AM GETTING A MESSAGE 'ACQUIRING NETWORK ADDRESS' MESSAGE, IT SAYS I AM CONNECTING BUT NO ACTUAL INTERNET

If you are using Windows 7, this can happen. If you own the network, and know the address range, disable Automatic IP on the machine, and give it a static IP address. Make sure you indicate the gateway and DNS server addresses as well.

My laptop is connected to my unsecured wireless network via my linksys router, but my iPad and other laptop will not connect. I am getting an error message that says, "Unable to join the network...

I would try to set up the network with a new SSID due to settings being saved in some devices, and because someone else may have a linksys network set up that you may accidentally be connecting to.

After that, try basic security settings.

Also, make sure you don't have MAC address filtering enabled on the router. To check this, you will have to login to the admin area and look for MAC address filtering.

Just wait and you will get an ip address. You will not get one if you are not associated and aunthenticated by the router.

Under this condition you should connect the linksys router physically by LAN cable and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement. If still unable to solve the problem than kindly reset the unit to factory default by pressing the reset button.and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement.

"acquiring network address" problem

The password might have been changed that's why you keep getting "acquiring network address", the password is incorrect. What you can do is just reset the router. There's a reset button at the back of it, press and hold it down for 10 seconds then release, unplug the power now for 10 seconds then plug it back in. That will disable the wireless password, just re-enable it.

From the PC you are trying to connect to your wireless router LAN there are two possible causes of these problem.

1. No DHCP Server Available.
2. You are using MAC Filters and the MAC is not defined in the router configuration.

Please verify this and you can easily get through it.

DHCP can be configured over your wireless router also incase you don't have DHCP Servers in your LAN / WAN. Other wise you can go for manual IP addresses.

Cannot acquire network address from access point

then it seems thatb the wireless security key for your network is incorrect, make sure if you are entering the key correctly..
or else..
check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
