Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

F11 code Wash machine has f11 code during wash and rinse cycles. It also emits a stinky smell, Repairman came and said it is a sensor code and check electronic board and it looked good. Continued to do this so I checke drain pipe and hose they were a little gunky but not to bad. I would appreciate any suggestions as I have 4 kids and a lot of laundry.

"F11" is a serial communications error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU). In short, you need to check all the connections between the CCU (which is located in the center of the washer directly behind the wash tub with the top casing removed), the MCU (which is located in the bottom portion of the washer on the left-hand side looking in from the back with the rear panel removed), and the connections to the drive motor (located under the wash tub in the rear).
In a nutshell, the majority of the time I have experienced this problem, it has been a failed CCU. You can find a replacement at repairclinic.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number in the Search menu and look for item #1176592. The part lists for about $50 less than what Sears carries it for. I don't know if you will find it any cheaper.

As far as the smell goes...this is usually caused by leaving the washer door closed and not cleaning the tub periodcially. Front loaders are notorious for this problem. It is caused by residual water (which is normal) sitting in the wash tub with the door sealed. The water will sour and the tub will also mildew, because of lack of air to dry the tub out. Another item to mention is to check in and around the rubber door boot. Small items, such as socks and underwear can get caught behind the rubber seal and start to smell. This area should also be cleaned periodically. If you have checked the drain trap and drain lines thoroughly, then clean the rubber boot. Run the washer on the hottest setting you have with nothing, but bleach in the tub. This will sanitize the tub and drain lines. You may have to repeat this process a couple of times to get the problem under control. It is recommended to run a sanitary (or cleaning) cycle periodically to keep the washer clean. Leave the door OPEN when not in use to prevent mildew from forming inside the wash tub and rubber boot. If you have a serious mildew problem and cleaning does not resolve it, you may have to replace the door boot.

Post back and let know. I can provide step-by-steps instructions on how to replace the CCU. Steps on how to replace the door bellow (rubber boot) are posted under my profile under "Tips and Tricks". I hope this helps you.

Zanussie essential 1400 smell of mould can't get rid of it

g'day. Move the machine to check for leaking water. This could be from the taps in the back, or hose clamps throughout the machine and could be causing chronic dampness around the machine. Also check for filter to clean pump. You might have to look under the machine. The soap draw can also get clogged up - but generally doesn't smell. good luck

I have the Whirlpool Topload Cabrio washing machine and it will be a year old on Jan. 15, 2011. It is really starting to stink up my laundry room. I have run the wash cycle through with distilled vinegar...

Here is what I do. I run "Tide Washing Machine Cleaner" thru the washer first with HOT water. Then, I recommend running a rinse only with hot water & bleach to rinse the washer out really well and don't forget to leave the lid opened when the washer is not in use.

Depending on how your washer controls the beeper, it could be a stuck relay or a fried transistor.

Towels smell oily and moldy--really stink

Don't use fabric softener. I had the same problem and read somewhere to stop using the fabric softeners. I don't know why but after about two cycles (they smelled really bad) it worked! I always used fabric softeners with out a problem but one day I just started getting REALLY smelly towels. I always take my wet wash out as soon as the cycle ends and dry it completely so I was surprised when they smalled so bad. Give it a try.

Mildew smelling towels and no separate rinse cycle

the problem is your door seal if you close the door after a wash then what happens is the water goes mouldy on the inside of the door seal what you need to do is replace the door seal you will never get rid of the smell without replacing it never close the door after a wash always leave it open to make sure its your seal the easy way is to look at the inner part of the seal and it will be mouldy only thing you can do
