Had two warning lights come on the das the battery light and handbrake light plus temperature went up high

Maybe your serpentine belt is slipping or gone. Not sure if the water pump runs off the same belt as the alternator on this model.

Powersteering and powerbrakes not working

  • You need to specify the particulars of the vehicle. Make, model, year.
  • My first guess is you have a broken fan belt driving the power steering.
  • Power brakes are generally vacuum driven But on certain Dodge chrysler trucks they are driven off of the power steering pump.
  • If it isn't a broken fan belt, the power steering pump is probably either low on fluid or bad.

No suction

I presume the motor is running, take the front brush roller off and check the fan is still intact. Possibly broken fan.

Are you talking about the fan belt? On this model car it's probably a flat belt (smooth on the outside and grooved on the inside) and is called a serpentine belt. Do not drive the vehicle with this belt broken, as it can lead to overheating the engine!

You can replace this yourself, but the way you phrased your question leads me to believe you don't possess a great deal of automotive mechanical knowledge / aptitude.

If I'm correct in this assessment, your best bet is to get a local mechanic to do this job for you.

Talk with friends, neighbors and relatives to get a consensus on a reputable local mechanic.

Good luck!

Alternator belt broken

Audi A6 (1999 fabrication year):
1. Release the fan belt tensioner.
2. Remove the broken belt.
3. Put the new belt correctly in place.
4. Set-up the fan belt tensioner.

If you specify the engine type of yours car I will send you the fan belt routing diagram!

Belt replacement

Take the belt with you to an appliance store and they will match it up. Much like a fan belt on a car. You won't necessarily need the model if you have the belt. Next, it sounds like your assembly is broken. If this assembly looks to be in pieces, you may need a new one.

My fan belt on my hoover is broken, where is it located and how do i fit a new fan belt

Get a new belt, then remove the bottom plate. The belt goes around the brush roll and the motor shaft. If you don't see the motor shaft, then you will need to remove the top cover to get to it. The belt will stretch to go from the motor shaft to where the brush roll sits in. If this model has 2 belts, then the drive belt(flat) goes from the motor shaft to the bigger pulley close to the brush roll.
