You secure a wireless connection by enabling WPA encryption on your router, or at the very least WEP encryption (not as good, but better than nothing). The configuration screens inside your router will present you with the capability of doing this. Look in the Wireless section, under Security or Encryption.

I have a Netgear router -but I dont have the same computer that I used to set up Internet connection. My router works but is not secure

the computer you have should make no difference to how the router works.
If your wifi connection is insecure you will need to login to it and add the security under the advanced/wireless (wifi) options and add a password.
if you connect to the router with a cable then just turn off (disable) the wifi, you don't need to set up the security.

It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. WEP password for Westell 327w

v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} p\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} v\:textbox {display:none;} Slide 1 .O {color:black; font-size:149%;} .O1 {color:black; font-size:149%;} a:link {color:#CCCCFF !important;} a:active {color:#3333CC !important;} a:visited {color:#B2B2B2 !important;} Open Internet Explorer & in the URL:// bar type: 192.168.1.1 or dslrouter.

Select Wireless and then select Security from the Configuration
menu.

If you use WPA-PSK or WEP
wireless security, you must configure your computer’s wireless adapter for the security code that you use.

At the Wireless Security drop-down menu, select the desired security option

WEP: Selecting this will enable you to set up WEP security on the VersaLink. The AP card
supports 64-bit, 128-bit, or 256-bit WEP encryption. If WEP is selected, any station can connect to the AP (as long as its SSID matches the AP SSID). If wireless security is disabled, the risk of someone nearby accessing the AP is maximized

type in the desired WEP Password....do not forget to save...
