SCREEN LIGHT COMES AND GOES AS IT PLEASES...

Hi there, i have a Kenwood KRFV506OD reciever and it has had this problem for a little while now, but i am getting annoyed with it.
Firsty it would only turn off for an hour or two then come back on, but now it spends most of the time off, everything still works like normal, it's just a pain not knowing what setting it is on etc..
I have seeked help from some repairers but they aren't to interested in helping, i was hoping to maybe repair it myself with the help of some service information, eg. wiring diagram, technical data etc.
Any help will be much appreciated.

First a couple of questions:
1) Does the panel seem to behave this way more after the set warms up or is it just random?
2) Is anything else effected or are you just loosing the front panel display?

Thanks,
Dan

Kenwood KR-V7080 reciever will not play through speakers.I can still plug headphones into the reciever and get audio but not through the speakers. Tested the speakers and they still work.

If the speakers used to switch off when the headphone plug was put in the socket, suspect the socket it goes into as being the trouble. It is clearly not connecting the speakers, when the headphone plug is removed.

I have had a Kenwood VR-407 reciever for almost 9 years now but it has just started cutting off. The small power/standby light above the power button goes off when I power it up but then it shortly...

If you've already disconnected the speakers then I suspect the fault is internal on the amplifier and the unit is shutting down to protect iteself.

The fault with most amplfiers can normally be traced to blown or leading capacitors (bulge on the top or liquid around base) which can be replaced for little cost if you've got the technical ability and equipment to desolder and resolder components on a PCB.

First thing to do would be to remove the cover and check the capacitors as detailed above.

I have direct satalite tv VR 6050 kenwood surround sound tuner vizio tv, dvd player, and a vcr, Im confused on how its hook up and what order should it go something like sat in to sat box to kewood...

that reciever is not going to carry a hi definition video signal, it doesnt have either hdmi or component video inputs.

you can still use it, but if you run the picture through the reciever, it will have poor quality.

heres how you are supposed to hook it up:

find the single,m yellow video jack on your sattelite box, and hook that up to the "tv" video input, then hook the laft and right audio outputs from the cable box into the "tv" audio left and right inputs on the receiver. hook up the dvd player and vcr in the same manner, using "dvd" and "VCR" (if labeled as such) inputs on the reciever.

finally, send the tv video and audio outputs to the composite video in and left/right audio inputs on the tv. the video will be running through the reciever, and when you use the reciever to switch the sound source, the video will also be changed. you could get better picture quality if you ran the video directly to the tv using component (seperate green, red and blue) outputs/inputs, and bypassing the reciever on the video end, but then you would have to change inputs on the tv AND reciever to change from your cable box to your dvd player.

Hi, i have a kenwood VR-506 reciever. I was useing it when it cut out, the same as if two speaker wires were touching each other. Now everytime i turn it on it comes on, but when it cuts in it cuts out...

As long as it doesn't blow any fuses, check the solder connections around the output stage. Sometimes they heat-up and become cold connections - re-apply solder by heating thoroughly to repair the junction.

Kenwood rx29 reciever protection fault

Check the speaker ohms. If you still have the factory ones they are rated at 2ohms. All new stereos need a 4 ohm speaker. I had the same problem with a different kenwood and all I did was change to a set of kenwood speakers and that fixed the problem

Reciever wont stay powered on

I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.
