Stanley Chrome Hd Staple Gun Tr110 Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jun 20, 2010

I'm stumped -- I just bought a Stanley Heavy Duty TRA700. I took the "safety" off (the wire loop that holds the handle down), pinched the lever on the back and slid out the tray the staples go into. I turned it upside down and loaded a standard "row" of staples into it, slid the tray back in until I heard a click. However I found that the staples are not going all the way down. There is a window along the side to show what size of staples are loaded (1/4, 3/8, 1/2), and no staples are visible. It is a brand new, right out of the package staple gun so I don't see how it could be jammed. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks!

They are 1/4 inch Stanley "Sharpshooter" staples, that list my model of staple gun as one of the models it fits.

Never mind -- I'll go to Lowe's. Hopefully they'll be a little less condescending.

The question here is what are standard staples in YOUR opinion? Are they designed to be used with this staple gun. What length are the legs of the staple 1/4" or less.

You cannot just use any staple in these guns They have to be the correct type either stanley or Bosh

My apologies, I was not intending the comment to be condescending. I was trying to ascertain if these were in fact the right size staples. "Standard " does not always mean they are the correct type.It could be ( and I did) assumed that you used a common staple that was not made for the unit.

I have one of these units, and a few times when I have loaded the staples on the rails, a few have jumped on one side to rest a leg on the inside of the slide and thus fouled the flow. Open the slider and check that all are leg outside of the slide and that there are not jammed up near the actual blade that separates them from the block. If staples are sitting high it is usually because there are too many loaded for the slide or that they have separated and kicked up on top of the following block of staples. ( double deckered) Hope that is a little more helpful

The problem is that the gun lets you load staples on top of the rail and it looks like you are doing it right. Slide the rial out, torn the gun upside down, and place the staples in the trough , then close the slide.

There are 4 staplers in the Stanley SharpShooter family. You drop the staples on top of the "slide out loader," then slide it into the gun. See models and staple sizes below:

Broken part in Stanley Heavy duty Electric Staple/Nail gun

Bought a new one. Stanley hold no spares in this country, so it was cheaper this way! I am disappointed it broke so easily, so soon in its proper life. The part that failed seems poorly designed to me.

Inserting brads into my Stanley TR250 Staple Gun

I bought one of these guns today and I had the same problem and it took me about 2 hours to figure it out as the instructions were very poor. Here how to load the brad nails:-

(a) Pull the slider bar all the way out
(b) Place the brad nail stick on the left side, IN FRONT OF the slider, NOT in the narrow gap in front of the two arrows where it says "LOAD BRADS"
(c) The nail heads should be facing the handle of the gun
(d) Close the slider and lock it
(e) Try it out. I tried nailing hardboard onto chipboard. The lever at low power only put the nail in about 30%. On Hi power it went in about 80%.

Good Luck

Tr250 does not drive brad nails all the way down.

Jason,

I think this is typical of these staplers/nailers. I bought a lighter model Stanley the first time and had this problem. I took it back and exchanged it for the heaviest Stanley they had at Home Depot and had the same effect. It drove the stapler a little deeper but not all the way.

I did find that if I put all the down pressure on the stapler right on the edge where the staple comes out and then pull the trigger it would drive the staple almost all the way in. I think that there is a recoil effect (like with a gun) when you pull the trigger and the staple enters the wood. Try this. it will help.

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating if appropriate Thanks for using FixYa
