Tip

Blue Screen of Death

The stop error screen or bug check screen commonly called the blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen, or "blue screen of doom.

slasher_x_22.jpg
In reality, the most common cause of blue screen errors is a device driver problem. Outdated, incorrect or corrupt drivers can cause the system to encounter a STOP error, resulting in the BSOD.
Often, if you're lucky, the problem will resolve itself with a simple reboot and you may never have to worry about it again. More typically though, the BSOD is a harbinger of trouble and you may find yourself faced with another and another until you throw up your hands in frustration... but all is not lost.

So the easiest way to try and fix a blue screen error is to reinstall and update your system's device drivers. This is if you are able to boot into safe mode (Press and hold the F8 key during boot up). This will ensure that all driver bugs are fixed and that all hardware has the correct driver. If you know which device caused the error, you can update or reinstall that driver first. The file name in the blue screen of death can help identify the driver. Look for a file with the .SYS extension and search for that file name. There is a neat program on the net that can fix this problem, it's called DriverFinder, you can get it here.

If this doesn't work or you can't think or find the corrupt driver you could use System Restore (If it is enabled) to go back to a time where you didn't get the error. To use the system restore utility, go to 'start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore.

Sometimes though the blue Screen of death can be caused by faulty or loose rame cards. Check that your RAM modules are inserted correctly and arn't clogged with dust.

After using the computer for a few months or years, the hard disk gets fragmented with temporary files, or fragmented files. This will result in slowness of the hard disk and may even result in a computer crash eventually. You can maintain your harddisk by defragmenting your hard disk and deleting unwanted files frequently.

If you see Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors then it is due to the video card. To solve this reduce the video display resolution. You can do so by going to the control panel and display settings. Choose the correct screen resolution to match your monitor.

Hi, i'm having problems with my pc. ive got it out of asking me the system password and when it starts it says a problem has been detected... on a blue screen. how can i get rid of this???

That is the BSOD - it appears when the system has encountered a fatal error and has crashed.
I think it's time to reinstall Windows, it will be a lot quicker and easier than trying to fix the origin of the BSOD.

Inspiron 531s will not boot up, keeps beeping, saying it is in power save mode. How do I fix the problem

System Beep Codes The Inspiron™ 531 / 531s system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code indicates the computer encountered a possible system board failure.
The series of beeps has a 3-second delay before it repeats. The series and delays continually loop until you press the power button.
Code Description Suggested Remedy 1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure System board failure; covers BIOS corruption or ROM error 2 No memory modules detected
  1. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  2. If available, install a good memory module of the same type into the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
3 Chipset error (North and Southbridge chipset, DMA/IMR/Timer Error for Intel® platform); chipset error System board failure. Power LED is blinking amber. Time-Of-Day Clock test failure Gate A20 failure Super I/O chip failure Keyboard controller test failure 4 RAM read/write failure
  1. Ensure no special memory module/memory connector placement requirements exist.
  2. Verify the memory modules you are installing are compatible with the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
5 Real time clock failure. Possible battery failure or system board failure.
  1. Replace the battery.
  2. If the problem persists, contact Dell.

Having installed Roxio Creator 10, I get a recurring message: "RoxMMTrayApp Module has encountered a problem and needs to close." Etc. It occurs even when I am not editing with that software. ...

ROXIO Multi Media Tray Application Module Has Encountered a problem and needs to close.

This Means ROXIO Creator 10 Try Application Encountered an error.

And since it happens while burning a disc

You should

1. Uninstall ROXIO Creator 10 , and reinstall it to make sure nothing is corupted.

2. If you still get the same problem it's time to check your intire system for errors.

This can mean you will need to take trouble shooting steps.

1. Use another burning program to see if you can burn without errors.

2. if you can burn fine with another burning program like NERO then chances are
you have an incompatability with ROXIO Creator 10 and should consult the documentation
to see if your drive is actually supported by it.

Do these things weed hopper and all will be well with you.

Toshiba power saver fatal error 0xb7

Okay I don't know if this will work for you, but bear with me, cause this is what I did and it fixed my fatal error.

First Download System Mechanic (theres a 30 day free trial you can use for the time being)
After it's done downloading and you've installed it. Do a deep Analysis of your system, and some errors will come up. Have the program fix them for you (if there are some you don't want to fix just hide them, and if your unsure about them, just go ahead and fix them). After this restart your computer whether or not the system mechanic asks. If after a restart it still gives you an error, download the latest version of the toshiba power saver which is currently 7.08.05. I have a toshiba U205 so there wasn't a specific one for mine, so I downloaded the Toshiba Satellite R20-ST4113 Power Saver Utility 7.08.05 Windows X.

Which still worked for my system since it's an XP. If yours is a vista, I recommending finding one for vista.

After this again restart your computer to see if it helped. I hope it helped with your problem. If not i'm sorry I couldn't give anymore advice.

if it is not working, try to boot in safe mode.
if it is also not possible, you have to go with your xp cd or operating system cd. first boot with operating system cd and go for the repair option to recover your operationg system.

I have encountered this the memory modules are not compatable and even if they were you may encounter problems with your computer having fatal errors if your memory is not the exact same brand and type. I always try to match the existing memory or just buy all new when i upgrade.
