Question about Toshiba Tecra A6 Notebook

Bios Password Hello, A while back you posted a request for help with a bios password problem (when you started your laptop it took you immediately to a password box and only gave you 3 tries and the options of f2 and f12 - which just took you to the password screen) did you ever receive good instructions on what to do? I am having the exact same problem now and am not finding any solution. Thanks

How to reset bios password

The FSC 1320D's are truely remarkable... We haev had a default BIOS password for our laptops for a while now, but it has recently started to have been guessed or found out. So of course, they needed to be changed. And suprisingly enough, the FSC 1320D will not allow you to reset the BIOS password through ANY user method so far, and we really have tried everything.
Removing the BIOS battery - This does nothing, at the best of times the system will display an error saying it has been removed but other than that the BIOS password remains.
Updating the BIOS - Most people would suspect that if you update the BIOS it compeltely refreshes the set system settings, including the BIOS password. This again, is not the case with this model, as every attempt at updating the BIOS so far has been deemed useless.
BIOS Corruption - This again, does not work. It leaves the system in a dead state, usually the BIOS resets. This has occured once, as during boot we noticed the options to scan memory had changed and it took longer, but the BIOS password remained.
Backdoor Passwords - Again, do not work. We have tried the entire list submitted by Ekse.
Reset VIA Software - There are some hacking programs out there which reset the BIOS through the Operating System. And i think we can all guess what im about to say... They don't work. It may just be for this model, as i've not tried them on others, but the BIOS password for the FSC 1320D does not get reset using this applications.

So, the verdict?
Apparently you can submit your laptop back to Fujitsu Siemens for an 'Out of warranty repair', and they will reset it for you. Assumingly by changing the BIOS chip completely. The only downside to this is that it can cost anything from £50 - £150 depending on service charges and delivery costs. My opinion, wasting time on a laptop that is past its sell-by date like the FSC 1320D is really not something you want to be doing. Buy a new laptop and sell the 1320D for spare parts.

Lenovo n500 forgot bios password

Hello, If you forgot your BIOS password,do not worry, you can reset your system back without requesting a BIOS password,Simply unscrew your laptop and get the motherboard of your laptop, locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove for sometime for the battery to discharge say 4-10minutes,or better still if you can locate the jumpers for the BIOS and reset it,the BIOS password will be removed. It is the battery that keeps the BIOS chip alive by suppling it power,if power is not supplied to this chip, then the information on it will be lost. So, remove the battery for some minutes or reset your BIOS jumper on the motherboard WISH YOU THE BEST.

Hi,
When system boots press the key to get into BIOS. Usually it is 'Del' Key. Once you get into BIOS, if not asking a password, get into admin menu and set the password option disabled.
If asking for a password while you get in to BIOS and you dont know the password, the only option is to reset the BIOS.
To reset BIOS u've to remove the back cover and remove and re-insert the CMOS battery while the laptop is powered off. After that, power on the laptop and set the bios to normal setting, especially the time. This wont harm any of your data.
Please come back and vote for me if this finds helpful for you. Thnx

I have an acer laptop 2920 i lost the password which has locked

There is only one way to clear cmos (BIOS) passwords and I'll show you the procedure.....

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check

If users set BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and/or User Password ) for a security reason, BIOS will
ask the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:

q Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.

q Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.

q Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.

q Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.

q Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.

q If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.

NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and User Password ).

Below is the picture showing the location of the jumper next to the memory module slots. This is the jumper connections that have to be "shorted".

Bios password

You will need the BIOS password to enter the BIOS setup.
To do a hardware reset remove the CMOS batteries for 30 minutes. Once your BIOS password is removed, you will need to press the <F2> key during POST (Power On Self Test) to enter the Acer BIOS setup.
After you enter BIOS, go to the Boot tab and down to "Security" and make your changes there.
If you need help with the default password, please re-post your request.
Thanks and good luck.
