I also had a problem with the middle letters not working. I opened up the machine and cleaned the circuit board and the bottom of the keypad with rubbing alcohol. That seemed to do the trick.
Fortunately your phones is not in locked state, if your phone in lock state you must unlock blackberry curve 8520 by typing any password 10 times, it will erase all your data and after your blackberry unlocked you.can setup new password again. the trackball need to be clean or replaced as for the keypad it may need to be service but it might be a software issue and the OS may need to be reflash so it would be best to take the phone to a mobile shop and have it diagnose.

If you are at the home screen and the phone is unlocked, press the "blackberry" key, next to the green answer button. The on screen menu should show "options". If you click on this, nothing happens? If it does pop up with the next window, the row adjustments are in the middle of this screen under "Set Homescreen Layout". Once you have selected this, be sure to press the blackberry button again and save your selection.
if all the button on keypad are not working,just take back up and reinstall the software and try if not it could be a physical damage so contact to the nearest showroom
