1. Check your power cord & adapter. 2. If its working then check the battery, reseat the battery & check. 3. If available then check with another battery 4. If no, then remove the battery & switch on the PC in AC mode. 5. Check if battery charging indication or AC power on indication is glowing. if not then need to change ur motherboard. 6. If indication is OK, but could not power ON then check ur RAM for any loose connection or dust. clean & reinstall. 7. If still no display, connect an external monitor, check if display is comming. 8. If Display is coming then your LCD need to replace.
have you tried either switching between external and internal monitor usally Fn + F5 on toshiba or try plugging a monitor into the back and see if it displays.
if you get a display on the external monitor then its probably a screen or inverter fault if you donot get a display to an external screen then it is likley t be the graphics on the board itself.
hope this helps
if the problem sounds as it seems, you need to take the ram that you put in out, see if it turns on. if not, you may need to replace the battery. the laptop will not work on the charger itself, that ay be the problem.
cutemah, Is your cd/dvd internal or usb? Have you tried to login using safemode? When the first Toshiba screen appears press the F8 key. Choose safe mode.
Since you say the cd/dvd isn't being recognized that too may be the problem. Try removing the cd/dvd player and see if the machine starts.
Is the error code only 0x57 or is there more?
It is sounding more hardware related than software related. What program are you using to format the hard drive?
