I have contacted HP/support and they have been very gracious. They have sent a replacement printer..........mine was a 4 month old c4250 they replaced it with a c4280. I tried the replacement and have the same . I then decided it must be a defective cartridge so I just bought a new b/w cartridge (I have not problem with the color cartridge)....it still will not stay in. I will return the printer to HP this week so that I will not be charged........please let me know if you have a solution.

Have you checked to make sure that you have the correct replacement cartridge?

In general if it simply will not go into position and you know you have the correct cartridge, then you need to take it back to where you bought it and request a replacement - because it is defective.

Just changed the cartridge on my printer - it is printing the same text several times (repeating) on the same page and there are a lot of dark patches with the text. Any suggestions?

if that apears when you changed the cartridge, then its bad cartridge. check if you place the cartridge right in place, sometimes such defects are caused by bad electrical contacts /priter - cartridge/

I use HP Premium Photo paper, 4x6 with tab. Also, there is Photo ink cartridges available for this printer.

Also, use the HP Photosmart Essentials program to print the photos.

Hp C4280 keeps wanting to print an alignment page every time I turn it on. I inserted new inkjet cartridges and printed the alignment 3 times and it looks great.

Place the alignment sheet as below on the scanner glass :

Lift the product lid, and then place the alignment page face down on the scanner glass, aligned with the right front corner of the scanner glass.

Changing ink cartridge on a HP C4280 printer

You open the clamshell and the carriage will move the cartridges to the place you can remove them. Just gently push down and pull out the cartridge. You replace it by inserting it and pushing up until the cartridge clicks into place.

This printer is saying that print cartridges missing, they are both brand new. HP Photosmart C4280 all in one. what to do.

Be sure to run the print test page after installing cartridges.  After doing so, place the page face down on the scanner and select cartridge alignment.

How do I install ink cartridge into HP Photosmart Model C4280 all in one printer. I purchased the black and colored cartridges but can't seem to find any info on how to install.

Step seven: Install the print cartridges
NOTE: The product must be on before you can insert the print cartridges.
  1. Open the print cartridge door. Figure 7: Opening the print cartridge door c00880893.jpg
  2. Make sure the print carriage moves to the right. If it does not move to the right, turn the device off, then turn it back on again.
  3. Open the packaging and remove the tape from both cartridges. Figure 8: Removing the tape c00880894.jpg CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or re-tape the cartridges.
  4. Hold the cartridges with the HP logo on top.
  5. Insert tri-color cartridge in the left cartridge slot and the black cartridge in the right cartridge slot . Figure 9: Inserting the print cartridges c00880895.jpgc00880896.jpg
  6. Push the cartridge firmly into the slot until it snaps into place.
  7. Close the print cartridge door.
