What are you trying to do ?
You can use any drive as long as you have usb or other required ports available on your computer.
If an external hard drive on your computer has been locked, it has likely been done by the computer's system administrator.
This means that anytime you try to access the drive, you will be prompted to enter either your password or the administrator account's password (depending on the methods that person used to lock the drive).
If it asks for the administrator's password, you can't unlock it until you get that information from the administrator.
Click the Windows-logo button on the lower-left-hand corner of the screen.
Click "Computer."
Double-click the icon for the locked external hard drive.
As Windows Explorer attempts to access the drive, it will recognize that the drive has in fact been locked and you will be prompted to enter a password.
Enter the drive's password into the box and click "OK" to view the contents of the locked external hard drive.

Is it possible to be locked out of my hard drive

yes

if its a usb external drive you might need a usb 3 card installed on your computer your computer might not have enough usb output power

USB 3 card will provide more power when needed to the device to gain maximum throughput and conserve power when the device is connected but is idling

Write protected memory card..sd card

There should be a little switch on your memory card reader, if it is facing down, your card is locked. Push it up and then you should be ready to go. :)

HITACHI HARD DRIVE LOCKED

Hello Oldnovii
This Toshiba notebook has both a BIOS and hard drive lock on it. The client has already paid $ 25 to the Toshiba depot to have the BIOS lock removed now they want $ 100 to remove the hard drive lock. The hard drive lock cannot be removed by trying to bypass it using a boot cd or disabling the hard drive boot option in the BIOS. Any help will be appreciated since my client has now had the notebook for 2 weeks and cannot use it. Thanks
