If you know the IMEI of your phone you can have it blacklisted by your Network Service Provider. The phone can also be traced by the police, to find the thief.
Blacklisting:
This is not a security code, but it works like one! To help combat mobile phone thefts, the networks share a database of the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) of mobile phones that have been reported stolen. Once a phone is on this list, it will not be allowed to use any of the networks.
This can be a risk if you buy a second-hand phone, because if it has been stolen, or if an unscrupulous seller makes an insurance claim after selling, the phone you bought in good faith may be permanently disabled.
Be very careful to check the source of a second-hand phone!

Please help me block my Samsung B7320 mobile phone which have been stolen last Monday (18-07-11).This is the IMEI 357962030117675.

Hi, you have to call your network provider as soon as possible and report to them that your phone was stolen to you.. They will ask you for the IMEI # of your phone...and It would be better to report it into local police just in case that they need a supporting documents that may prove that the phone was stolen..

Hello thanks for using fixya

If your cell phone is lost or stolen,it is not possible to trace it unless you ring your cell phone number and someone answers it and returns it to you.But you can inform your network provider with yours IMEI number and all the details of your phone who can then put the serial number on a shared database. This list stops this particular phone from registering on any network and will be useless for anyone even if the mobile phone's SIM card is changed

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

You can't have it locked without the IMEI number, but your Network Service Provider can give you a new SIM card and Void the other.
