Question about Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player

2 Answers

I restored my GoGear HDD6330 back to factory settings and lost FM transmitter feature. The icon just wasnt there when I turned it on again. It was kind of a nice feature to have and I would like to get it back. If anyone knows how I can do that please let me know. Thanks

I have this EXACT same problem. Really hope there is a way to fix it. I called tech support and they are telling me they dont have any updated files to fix it.

    (To 'avid_imps')

I would be grateful for the help. My email is Hot4Jagr68@aol.com. I had questioned the previous owner as to whether this player really had the FM feature, and they INSISTED that it player. --I questioned it because one of the reps said it was possible that the player came from Europe where they werent allowed to have the FM feature. I really dont know how to tell.

There may be a way to fix this problem.

Post your e-mail address, and I will send a service firmware and instructions to restore your player.

The file is too large to e-mail, so you can download it here:

    https://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbi..."HDD6330-17-v1.3.zip"

    Unzip the enclosed file.

Connect the HDD6330 to the power supply and the PC.

Before the HDD6330 registers on the PC, press and hold [VOL+] & [POWER ON] to reset the player.

As soon as the player resets, press and hold [VOL-], until PC recognises the player as a removable drive.

Player will show the connection icon on screen but without the bar and battery indicator at the top of the screen.

You may need to try this several times to get it right.

When the player shows as "GOGEAR" or "MDJUKEBOX", right click on the drive from My Computer and click format.

Click on "Quick Format" and complete the process.

Copy ALL of the files from within the enclosed .ZIP folder exactly as they are, into the HDD6330.

When the copy process has completed, safely remove the HDD6330 from the PC, but leave connected to the power.

The player will restart and eventually show "Burn Success"

Press and hold [VOL+] & [POWER ON] to reset the player.

The player will restart as normal, and should restore the tuner function.

Further to my previous post, you will need to rename the file to "{anything}.ZIP" before you can open it.

You can go to the root menu of your player and click settings and select restore factory settings. If this option is not available on your player, connect your player to PC. On your computer desktop, double-click "My computer". Double-click on the MP3 player's icon. Right-click on the Internal Storage icon and then select "Format". When i turn it on it says gogear and it frezzes right there

Reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch., and as soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. Let the Philips device manager do a repair.
If this doesn't solve your problem, do the above procedure again. The computer will see the gogear as a removable hard-drive now, so go to my computer and format it. Disconnect the player, after restarting it go to settings and choose "restore to factory defaults", this will restore the file structure on the drive.

Does Gogear charge via the USB plug or only via the 13 amp plug

You should be able to use the play side but I do not think you will be able to charge it.
The transmitter side is taken from the earphone socket.
The power comes from the mains plug via. the Philips lead and is at 5 volts.
I could be telling you wrong as I do not know what adaptor you are looking to purchase.

Philips GoGear 30 GB HDD6330 Won't Turn on.

Try a soft reset by pressing and holding [VOL+] & [POWER]
whenever this happens, then try powering up again.

If this doesn't work, it could be corrupt firmware. Run the Philips Device Manager software (on the product CD). Select the Restore / Repair option and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-flash the firmware.

Note: ALL tracks will be deleted from the player.

Omg, none of the b*%#&#@ in costumer support was able to help me out and I know it could be frustrating. Here Is a sloution took me five hours to come up with it finally found it if you are having this problem you could not probably restore factory settings from your go gear. But after doing what I tell you this is the way your gogear is going to be back to Normal.
1st. Connect your gogear to the computer with usb cable.
2nd. Don't enter windows media player or device manager or anything to that has to do with the go gear.
3rd. Go to thisweb page (http://www.usasupport.philips.com/consumer/productDocuments.html?ProductCode=HDD6330/17&subCat=HDD_AUDIO_JUKEBOX_SU_us_CONSUMER) Scroll down on the page and download (Firmware Upgrade Software).
4rd. Save the files to your documents they are zip files so unzip them and save them to your documents.
5th. Open your gogear on "my computer"(folder).
6th.Take the two files you saved on your documents they should be(DeviceDiversity) and (FWImage.ebn) and drag them to the folder named "Data" in your philips go gear.
7th. Disconnect the gogear(mp3) it should turn back of. If not turn it back on manually.
8th. In your gogear(mp3) go to "settings" then scroll down to "Factory Settings" and "Restore Factory Settings"
9th. Let the demo do it's magic.
10th. After 10 minutes get off the demo by pressing the off switch.
11th. Reconect the gogear(mp3) and go to "My Computer" right click the philips gogear and left click on Format. Let it Format, when done click (ok).
12th. Disconnect the gogear after you are done formating.
13th. Reconect gogear and then synchronise your music with windows media player.
14th. When done sychronising !ENJOY YOUR MUSIC!

This took me a long time to find out whope it works for you.
The Asswholes in costumer service are not profesionals don't know shit and they would wana charge you $40 to get this fixed plus shipping and handling. hope my article helps you Bye.;-)
