I have same problem with a Dell Dimension 360 wonderful machine but only have windows disc and not original hard drive. Do have drivers on another CD downloaded from Dell. What everyone is missing is that if you don't have the video driver you can't very well see any video. Sounds obvious, Windows just stops loading and says bad driver. It is the original card but like all machines there are drivers for board and or cards that are not recognized by the Windows XP Pro SP2 disc. It doesn't have every driver for everything. Short of a stapler I can not get this driver on the hard drive. Sounds like a couple others have same issue

I'm having the same problem....I inherited a dell 8250 and formatted I put the chipset download with all the downloads on the dell site.....nothing....I have a default for the monitor sound, no choices for network adapters, no recognition from a cd-rom to pull drivers from for a modem to get it off the net....I'm truly stuck because the motherboard does not recognize anything and like I said none of the dell downloads me please before I have to buy a LARGE trash can.....

With regard to maks_Ali's post, it should ask you for your service tag which will show you all the driver downloads you need for your specific [customized] computer. I would recommend going through this with a Dell support "technician". Though they can be a pain in the **** sometimes, some of the drivers need to be installed in a certain order to work right and they know that order.

Well dont understand why would you need a motherboard installer but...Sounds like you need the drivers for those devices installed (Audio, Video and Lan) Usually that comes with your Pc on a cd..if you dont have the cd, you can go to or some other websight that scans your machine and can give you the drivers missing at a cost (I believe Driver agent is 30 dollars for a year. )

Well I have a Dell Demension 4600 also but dont know if the Specs are exactly the same and I am Constantly Reformating my PC and reinstalling the drivers from Drivers I downloaded from and saved to CD so when ever I Reformat I use those CD's. I also have those Yellow Q's in Device Manager on my Network (Lan), Sound and Video then I just Pop in the CD and install drivers and all Done. Tell me what Video Graphics you have and Network Card and Sound?

Its seems like everyone is giving the same advice need the drivers installed and also telling you your options now its up to you to apply the advice we gave you. Go to Dell and look up your system and find drivers or Pay $30.00 and scan your system for missing drivers then download...(after reading the websites Faq's of course.)

GeForce6100SM-M lan problem

Hi dadynidhen, there is another way to install the LAN driver & that is through windows system properties. Find the yellow question mark again & follow the instructions below.

Right click once on the yellow question mark, a window will open & Left click once on “update driver”. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Left click on the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find the folder in your system that holds the 32bit LAN driver. High-light the 32bit folder by left clicking on it once. Than click OK.
Windows will see the driver files & install the driver. Once done restart the system. Run windows update service. There may be an update for the LAN driver.

Good luck!

Installing new Window xp and other devices didnt works

take the side of the computer off and look for the model number on your motherboard. you need to know if your using a network card or if its onboard Lan. if everything you need is onboard all you need to do is search your motherboard number on the internet and download the drivers. you need can select what you need, sound, lan etc. your goning to have to use a friends pc so you can download these files. when your Lan is installed go to the microsoft webpage and get the latest updates, that will solve the usb in your device manager

Re video driver

I have reformatted my windows xp and installed all the windowsxp drivers ( EDL71 P/N: DL71000110) namely in the following order:

a.) chipset
b.) graphic
c.) audio
d.) LAN
e.) modem
f. ) card reader
g.) Easy Button
h.) Touch pad
i. ) Wireless LAN
j. ) tv tuner

0nly letter (b) above can not be installed. When i open the DEVICE MANAGER, my VGA controller has a big "yellow question mark". I reinserted the windowsxp drivers and updated the said controller but the same cannot be updated because it can not find the device.

Because of this problem i can not play my pc games.

Furthermore, when i run the set up of the grafix accelerator, the same can not be installed because it indicated that the device does not meet the minimum requirements. Is there any alternative to repair my vga controller? My product's name is INTEL CORP. (ALVISO Laptop)/Chipset: Intel i915PM/GM
