The ring tone is defaulting to generic Nokia tone when I have set it to an mp3 song that is loaded on the phone. The songs play correctly in the music player, but the phone won't ring with the set tone.

Your MP3 file may be too long in duration (try cutting it down to less than 10 seconds and try again), the file name may be too long (try renaming it on the desktop as ringmp3.mp3 and transfer to phone), or the MP3 may be recorded in a bit rate that is too high for the phone to support as a ringtone (transcode again to a lower bitrate).

Where do I find the ring tones for a sgh-a737 phone

Read Everything Before Doing Anything!
(This is What I did and I now make my own ringtones for free and i use which ever part of the song i like and i mean any song) Important You Must Have A USB Cable And Memory Card For Your Phone If You Don’t See Third:)
First: Use The Program -Audacity- (You can get it at Download.com free software) To Cut Your Favorite Part of A Song -Max- (15 Seconds Long Only) (Not 15 And A Half Or 16 Just 15 Okay Or Less If You Want, No Longer!) C’mon Im Avoiding You Frustation of “It Didn’t Work” Boohoo. It Won’t Work If You Try And Do It Longer.
Second: Install - Open Program - Drag and Drop Song - Cut Your Favorite 15 Seconds - Export As WAV - Change To MP3 Using Windows Converter (Just Right Click The Song And Convert (WindowsXP) or Use MusicMatch) 128bit is fine. How Ever You Do It Just Make It Into An MP3 Format.
Third: Use A USB Cable (If you Dont Have One Buy One At Cellphoneshop.com its the cheapest way trust me find what you need ( Memory Card 2GB and USB CABLE) Use Coupon Code: merryxmas10 or merryxmas20 for a 10% or 20% discount which ever works. Just Do It Regular Mail Only For Codes Will Take About 10 Days To Get.
Fourth: Using Your USB Cable Plug Your Phone Into Computer And Copy And Paste The Cut 15 Seconds Of The Song Into (Audio) And You Have Your Self-Made Ringtone.
These Are The Steps I took to do this and it worked for me and there is no reason why it shouldn’t work for you NO REASON JUST FOLLOW THE STEPS.

Ringtone

First of all let me clearify about ringtone formats. There are rintone formate supported in 6600 are amr, mp3, wave and midi. AMR and MP3 are called voice format. MIDI is called music format. If you want to convert MP3 in ringtone then u have to cut it by MP3 CUTTER which is easily available on NET. If u want to convert MP3 into AMR, there is convertor named MMConvertor pro it is also available on net. If you want to convert MP3 in WAVE there is STREAMBOX reeper available on net. Yes, there is all in one tool also it is CHEETAH CONVERTOR. mail me I will send it to you.....Enjoy but do vote to FIXYA
