Wipe out the part under the printer head. check for inks that may have come in contact there accidentally. usually during paper jams. you may use a kleenex. don't use a paper towel as it is too rough. Anything soft would do.
The ink appears to be deposited by one of the rollers below the print head, always the same roller. Removing and cleaning the printhead does not seem to be a long lasting solution. Also just above the rollers on which the ink ends up there is a plate which runs the width of the printer, this appears to have a foam strip embedded in it, this appears to be saturated with black ink. The question is what causes it. Is it a print head problem, an ink cartridge problem or is it related to the periodic print head cleaning that the printer does? I don't know.
I had the exact same problem. I performed an automatic print head alignment, and the ink stripe disappeared.
