Jensen - Wireless Infrared Remote Control Extender - JDSC-IR100A
I have also purchased one of these over ebay without a manual. I have gotten it to work as an extender from my basement satellite receiver to the upstairs living room theater TV. I use a channel converter to remote the RF audio and video and this Jensen IR remote to allow control from the living room.
There should be five items in this set. Two dome shaped items, two power supplies and a hockey puck looking IR emitter.
First locate the dome that says transmitter on it. This you want to put at the remote location. This is the dome that you point your remote control at to do your bidding. Make sure its little antenna is extended and the power supply is plugged in. You should be looking at the dome with the antenna tail behind it. The range that you can operate this seems to be somewhat limited. More on this later.
Second, locate the receiver dome. It says receiver on it and has two plug jacks, one for the power supply and one for the IR emitter. Don't worry about that yet, you don't need to plug it in. Raise its antenna, connect its power and set this in front of the devise that is being controlled remotely. You do not need the hockey puck for this to relay your IR beam. Make sure it faces the device being controlled. The antenna tail should face away from the device being controlled.
You should now be able to relay the IR signal. Start by being close to the transmitter. Try a simple on off to verify you have a connection. You can then work at moving away a bit to get an idea on the range capability. I have read several reviews that say this range is very limited, maybe only 5 feet ! I am not sure if this is true in all cases, but be aware of it. Secondly experiment with the receiver placement to get reliable relay to controlled device.
The hockey puck can be used to put the signal in a closed in spot like behind a door in a cabinet etc. In this case, plug it into the receiver and stick it over the IR led on the item being controlled. By the way, I have not gotten this to work on the unit I have. Not sure why. I am also clueless on the visible red LED in the receiver. It seems to glow when I pass my hand around the antenna and does flash when a signal is relayed. It would be nice to know what this is intended to do.
I hope this helps.
If anyone has the manual, I would be interested as well.
